Most people staying here will probably be going to or from Heathrow, so they will have their passport on them, but I didn't. When you arrive, there are enormous signs all over reception saying, "Photo ID required". I'd booked my stay with ebookers, and paid in advance, and didn't have my driving licence either - like most people, I don't carry it around with me. I did present my debit card and a work ID with my photo on it. There was much discussion between the people at reception and visits to the manager at the back but I was told it was no good, I had to have valid photo ID, meaning a passport or driving licence. They were polite but insistent. I actually thought there was a real risk I wouldn't get my room, despite having paid for it! I pointed out that there is no legal requirement to carry these documents around, or indeed any form of ID, but they said the police had instructed them to get it for security reasons. In the end, after what seemed like an eternity, they let me check in. It was a bizarre and unwelcome experience. I did feel I had to fight for it, but I have to say the room was lovely. Good value, spacious, clean and pleasant. However, the check in experience was so unexpected that it rather spoilt my stay. They weren't rude to me, don't get me wrong, but I found the whole thing rather unnerving and a bit weird. It has never happened to me in any hotel in Britain before. If I was abroad I would understand it, but then again, I would have my passport then. To be fair to them, I checked the blurb on the website and it did say that government ID may be required. So you've been warned. This hotel has been used as a quarantine hotel and it would be good for that, with the big rooms and location. I found it good for tube travel into London from Osterley on the Piccadilly line, though it's a long journey into town. It's 10-15 minutes' walk from the tube. The immediate area is busy but very safe. It's also relatively close to Osterley Park, a National Trust property. The hotel is right under the Heathrow flight path for landings but is very well insulated, so the traffic and aircraft noise won't be an issue. Just remember to pack your passport or driving licence - or at least take a photo on your phone.

I booked a stay at this hotel in March 2022 via booking.com- last night I received an email stating the booking had been cancelled at my request. I did not cancel the booking so called the hotel where surprisingly there was no one working that managed reservations, yet the email had been sent minutes before. I then sent a message via booking.com’s messaging system. This had the booking reference and PIN code to the hotel to show I was a genuine customer. No one has bothered to respond to this email to explain why my booking was cancelled. I would not book this hotel as you will find you have no accommodation to stay in.

The overall impression of the hotel was excellent. During my stay, the staff and security personnel showed the required professionalism and understanding. My only suggestion is for the hotel to consider providing a better selection of TV channels to view.

Given the difficulties brought by the whole Quarantine Hotel situation I thought the hotel staff and G4S were very good. Whenever we asked for anything this was provided, with promptness and professionalism. The food was OK but the Curries were far better than the breakfast. The breakfast sausage was OK and the butter was almost always melted, importantly the food was always warm and well cooked. Monica on reception, like all the staff, was very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were basic but everything worked.
