Needed a reasonably priced local hotel when having a new boiler fitted over 2 days at Christmas '21. On departure, we (most definitely) left our iphone charger in the beside wall socket. On returning, in person, to the hotel 1 day later (and the bedroom was still empty), House Keeping could not find the (£20 plug & £20 cable), so it never made its' way to Lost Property and they would not reimburse us because we could not prove we had left it there. So, if you are happy with the following you'll be happy to stay; The bedroom was not as clean as the IHGCleanliness Promise would have liked (debris on windows and bathroom mirror) A nice Rowntrees liquorice Allsort left on the carpet. Freezing cold aircon in the breakfast/dining area (people wearing coats) Awful choice and quality of the evening meals. Attitude rather than friendliness from one of the Receptionists, everyone was lovely. However, the breakfast was very good, lots of choice and friendly staff! I feel bad leaving this review for a local hotel I should be proud to recommend!

We stayed for one night only with dinner and breakfast included. The room was clean and functional and overlooked the garden.The staff were extremely helpful and in particular Chole in the restuarant area. There is also a lovely outside area by the waters edge where you can sit outside with heaters. My son was also delighted to see a computer was available to use in the public area! The swimming pool was also well maintained and nice and warm. Overall excellent value for money.

Room I had approximately every 30 minutes made almost deafening noise from heating unit. No engineer but sounded like bearing gone in unit; when turned off (room was cold!) sound still happened as frequently, but slightly different pitch; I presume the unit cycled every 30min as regulations to recycle air? Tried calling reception as already undressed (had been in hospital that day and exhausted from not sleeping night before) phone in room dead; googled tel no, central call service tried to put me through to hotel, (don’t remember message I got 100% or if it rang) I know I got no answer and a message. Assumed noise would stop, watched TV, drifted off to sleep a little bit noise kept waking me up; called (2am) externally, I could get directly through to reception; I presume this switches over to direct calls at a certain time. Reception couldn’t be more helpfu even before I played them two videos of the noise; new room opposite given; at 3am, after walking my now awake dog, went to get belongings out of old room and key not working (not sure if I was ‘checked out’ of old room?) off I go to reception; new key given; got to sleep, soundly, at 5am. Woke at 9am.. after puttering about and realising prior to driving to just north of Italian border next day (8.5hour drive) I needed some more sleep; phone in new room not working. Couldn’t believe it again. Phoned externally to hotel, couldn’t get through; stayed awake and told cleaning staff I needed late check out when they arrived so I rested, but didn’t sleep. Stood at bar for 5 minutes lunchtime next day; lady working at hotel walked straight past me to do something at an empty table; walked over to get her in order to get served. Good points, hotel delightfully decorated and rooms super clean, very well appointed; phone charging points and plugs for you to sit and use in bar area. Shame to leave a bad review; cleaning staff must have heard this noise before as happens every 30mins & room clean longer than that, so can’t be excused in my mind: perhaps no maintenance reporting avenue up and running? I don’t know. Whole point of staying in a hotel is I believe a good nights sleep :-) so I’m afraid, negative review as reporting problems, other than (getting dressed) and visiting reception in person isn’t a good solution to a known (by someone, even if only cleaning staff) problem. Hope can get maintenance reporting better as hotel nice place (and remind staff not to walk past waiting guest at an unmanned bar!)

Wow. These guys at reception tick no boxes. I had a pre paid room inc of parking so they try to charge an overnight fee, ok got that corrected. Allocated a room should have been a family room so you expect all the beds to be made up, failed again child’s bed no sheets or made, moved us to another room, freezing cold heating is not working, waited over 25 minutes to get “we have to change you into another room” by now we are livid RICHARD the supervisor, well supervising what is he doing his job, absolutely not, really poor, eventually got to our 3rd room with only little sleep time remaining till our flight the next morning, do yourself a favour avoid this holiday inn like covid.

Stayed over for a Christmas party. Firstly we were charged to park the car when it is in the middle of nowhere! They should include it in the price then guests would not be annoyed as indeed the rest of our party were. Having returned recently from a holiday in Tenerife and the brilliant way they enforced mask wearing. We were appalled at the lack of strict es tempos Ed on the staff and indeed the guests. At least half the bar staff did not wear masks and the other half did not cover their noses. The food at the party was appalling mass produced pate very bland soup. The Turkey was very dry parsnips not cooked roast potatoes still white and the overcooked Brussels sprouts were the worst since school 40 years ago. Very poor choice of menu no fish course no ice cream or cheese offered to those who don’t eat sweet puddings. The dance floor was frightening ( no dancing allowed in Tenerife) 100 crammed together with no masks ( we did not join in). Very disappointing evening. Heating not working in several rooms.
