Detailed Reviews
Booked in for a 2 nightstay, as we needed a break. 1 dinner, continental breakfasts. Easy to book.
Room was of good standard . Food and service, at the May Tree restaurant, (adjacent) was good. Served dinner by Sophie (about to become a mum) Great attitude.
A few points which lost the 5th star. On arrival (1 hour early) after a 150 mile journey, my wife and I, in our seventies, needed to rest. Reception informed us our room was ready but we would have to pay an extra £10 surcharge to enter early, which we declined on principle. There was no razor socket in the bathroom (reception found a 2 pin socket for me, thankyou). Mobile phone and wifi connection was very poor. Again we could have upgraded wifi and paid an extra £5 but we declined on principle. Our stay was enjoyable as our room was at the rear of the property and very quiet, food was good and staff attentive. Would return. Keith Rudyard

Normal Premier Inn. You know what you're getting. Clean rooms quiet and reasonable food which is why we booked as we were visiting Helston as we lived there from 1978 to mid 80s and wanted to visit old haunts (disappointed Beehive want open) Menu could do with changing and maybe vary from hotel to hotel. Let the chefs do their thing. Breakfast and dinner service was very slow. Waited ages to be seated despite having reservations. At breakfast we were waiting to order (negates all you can eat buffet) when another couple came in and were served before us! So not great.

Was a great alternative to staying in Falmouth which was much pricier to stay but is only a very easy 20 minute drive away.
There is a free car park, easy check-in and friendly staff. The room was extremely clean, bathroom spotless, large tv, aircon, hairdryer. lots of plug sockets and lovely mirrors (Full length and light makeup mirror) Lots of fresh white fluffy towels. Beds were very comfy and nice duvets. Even the 3rd bed was a proper bed and not a pull out. The blackout curtains were also a perfect addition as we wanted an early night.
Dinner and breakfast were great value as a meal deal £26.99 for 2 course dinner, drink and unlimited breakfast buffet. And my daughter had a free breakfast. All out food was really good and what you would expect for pub food. The breakfast was FANTASTIC.
We didn't have any view but we were not there for a sea view so it was not a problem at all. We would stay again.

Room 14 was set up as a family room with two extra single beds, but the room was far too small for this (not as shown on website), leaving one occupant with another’s feet pointed at their head all night with the beds placed in an L-shape. The single beds were hard and uncomfortable and left sleepers with aching necks and shoulders in the morning. Wifi was frustrating - book yours with the front desk, not online. Bear in mind that ‘ultimate premium wifi’ just meant ‘paid for’ as it was slow and intermittent. Friendly staff, but we had to ask for lots of things, eg enough cups for all occupants, instead of the room being set up for the right number of occupants, although we appreciated them finding us a bit of needed cutlery. We arrived around 8pm and the car park was almost completely full with cars parked over two spaces in places making it hard for us to park. The main bed was very comfortable, the shower hot with good pressure, and the overall area pretty quiet on a Friday night.

Stayed here before, it was ok then. But this time for a 2 night stay seemed a few niggly things that have brought the experience down.
Check in was ok, found room 154 was miles away, could almost have been in Falmouth!! Straight away smelled damp, as though the shower had been on and no ventilation. Didn't seem like bathroom extractor fan working and kicked steam into the room. Window didn't open either. And room air con seemed ineffective, and timed out after an hour so had to keep resetting. Would have asked to change room but couldn't face the walk with luggage back to reception. If anyone would have been there a debate too.
Reception told us to let them know if we wanted the room refreshed (usual these days) and gave us a label for the door, but no phone in the room so couldn't let them know, and each time we walked past no one there to let know. So even though we used the label, room wasn't touched. Wonder what the point of the label was tbh.
In the room, the decor was tired but ok. Shower was good, but this frustrating tap spreader means all water comes out as a fan, so no direct jet. Not sure what that's supposed to do. And the toilet tissue caddy, putting the tissues in right would mean they come out properly. That's quite important in the moment of need.
Premier Inn used to be good value clean and comfortable but this one seems to be heading downhill I'm afraid.

Not impressed at all !
Very poor service
If you planing your trip in Cornwall, avoid this place or make sure to grab some shower gel , shampoo and hand washing gel with you
Went to the reception and asked if possible to get some shower gel at least as we was coming from the beach
The life -upsetting woman receptionist from the reception desk told us they don’t have any cos they been left down by their delivery, and had a face like we asked for some irrational thing
Thanks to the man from reception what had a better attitude to his job and done a search and found us some regular shower gel
Rubbish was picked up from the bin over our staying
Surprised they had the toilet paper !!!
Not worth for the money I will say
P.S. As a suggestion, make some door hangers to say “Please make my room , or don’t disturb “
In this way , your staff can be more productive and helpful

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in September and paid £180 or so for a basic room which included basic tea and coffee making facilities, you had to ask for a room clean, towel change, more tea coffee etc,it made me feel the hotel was truly cutting back on basic things required for everyday use, and I personally didn’t want to keep asking for stuff. The room wasn’t particularly clean, with a big hand mark on the mirror on the wall as we entered, and a few other marks and dust.
Breakfast and dinner was an extra, we didn’t have any as we considered breakfast should have been included in the price, if only a light breakfast, so voted with our feet and went elsewhere to eat both breakfast and dinner( our little protest) as it was expensive enough.
Wi Fi wasn’t very good, kept dropping out.
Good points. Bed was comfy and parking was free.
Won’t be staying again.

Very disappointing. The outside of the building looks worn. Reception was ok but not welcoming or friendly. The corridor and the room had a very damp/stale smell. The room was clean but we ran out of shower gel the first evening. The hand gel and toilet tissue was also low. We asked at reception for them to be refilled. We arrived back later in the day to find the toilet tissue had been filled and two refill boxes of shower gel and hand gel were in the bathroom which we were expected to fill ourselves. On top of which they were different refills to the dispensers in the room. The bathroom was is need of refurbishment. There were large cracks in the basin and black mould around the tiles. The room itself looked fine. We put the air conditioning on the first evening but had to switch it off due to the horrible smell coming from the vent. It was definitely not worth the price we paid and we would certainly not return to this Premier Inn.

The room was clean and beds comfortable, lovely powerful shower and nice bath. There wasn't any cleaner coming in due to Covid, this was better at this present time as I wouldn't of wanted different cleaners coming into our room at this present time. However we put our bin outside the room if it needed emptying and also were able to ask for clean towels etc.
Breakfast and Meals at The Maytree needed to be booked in advance, which we were made aware of before our stay and did book all our breakfasts in advance. The breakfast and the couple of evening meals we had were all very good and the breakfast filled you up until the evening.
Helston Premier inn was a good base for us to visit near by towns in Cornwall Penzance, St Ives, St Austell and Truo were all a short drive away, Very close by is Flambards and the Seal Sanctury is worth a visit.
We would definately stay in another Premier Inn.

The hotel is great for a short break, we stayed 2 nights, a quick break before Christmas. Easy to book, very reasonably priced( we had a great deal on free breakfast) Ideally located for exploring south west Cornwall. Room was spacious and clean. Wish we could open the windows, personally not keen on air conditioning. Very comfortable bed and plenty of piping hot water for morning shower.
