Excellent pub. Lynsey was very welcoming, service with a smile. Even asked us what glasses we preferred. Definitely will be back. This is a very traditional boozer in the old sense. Just our kind of place, we call them real pubs and they are becoming rare in this day & age.

Clean comfortable room, hot shower and comfy bed. Tea and coffee available. Was a lot cheaper than others in the area , no breakfast or dinners available. Ideal location for the Eden Project and Tintagel. Friendly staff but not around much, room was never serviced and you have to ask for extra tea and coffee. It was ideal for us as we had plans for the days we were away ,

We spent a couple of hours in this lovely pub Friday evening. The barmaid was very welcoming and advised on the best wine for my tastes as they didn'thave what I would usually choose. We sat in the quirky enclosed seating area at the back of the pub and admired the incredible artwork on the walls. It was very relaxing and we will definitely visit again next time we're lucky enough to be in Lostwithiel.

This hotel rates highly for lack of both customer service and facilities. No TV service in any of the rooms due to aerial problems. No Wi-Fi signal in bedroom and no breakfast despite saying otherwise on this website. Curtains were torn (and had been since last August judging from the comments in the visitors book) . Room not serviced over a 2 day stay. Bar staff apologetic but proprietors appear not to care or to even be present at the pub. Total absence of any staff on checkout at 9am. No words strong enough to convey our disappointment. Other hotels are available in Lostwithiel and are much more welcoming.

We have just stayed a week in Lostwithiel and used the kings head twice for a drink. It is an absolutely brilliant pub and I'm glad we went in, total mismatch of locals and staff of all ages. We first walked past on Saturday night and noticed outside the board said there was live music and the words "barmaid" were written underneath, we looked in the window and saw the pub had a barmaid and joked maybe she's the singer. After a couple of drinks in nearby establishments we timed it so we would be walking past the pub at the 9pm advertised time as we love live music and thought we'd give it a go. Sure enough we heard singing coming from the pub and when we entered, it really was the barmaid from earlier. There weren't many people in at that time but as the evening went on the pub was filling up with young locals who were absolutely hilarious, we were up singing and dancing and lads were doing backflips in the bar, it might sound a bit intimidating but they were good fun, I work with troubled teenagers so they were of no issue to me, they were funny, friendly and a good group of kids. The singing barmaid was great and the other barstaff were good too. Our second visit in the week it was definitely quieter and we were remembered from the few nights before. Lovely warm welcoming pub full of characters. It would definitely be our local if we lived in the area! …

I hadn't expected great things from a town centre hotel, having suffered in the past from drunks, muzak, nighclubs and street cleaning teams in other places. However at Lostwithiel despite being close to what claims to be a main road, everyone seemed to be tucked up safely in bed by 9pm....and on a Saturday evening, too. So I had a great night's sleep, and was able to leave the window wide open in perfect peace. An interesting hotel , all nooks and crannies. Room was fine and well-appointed, with creaky floorboards demonstrating its period pedigree. Things weren't made easy being at the heart of covid at the time of my visit. Walking routes meant having to go around outside when getting to the bare are for breakfast. Probably that's all in the past. The fry-up itself was excellent, hand-cooked to order. It's also handy for the railway station, but then Lostwithiel is so small this applies to almost any hotel in the town. I was very pleased with my stay. PS No "elevator capacity" limit enforced, but then there's no lift, so an n/a option would be useful. Likewise I can't recommend (or not) a restarurant which isn't there.…

Awesome staff. The friendliest and most helpful people. Accommodated my group for breakfast even though we had not stayed there. I checked out the rooms and will certainly book to stay there when I return. Sarah the lady in charge is a delight.

Bit of a locals pub. Was ok for one night, room was comfortable. Only served breakfast which was good. Parking is an issue, had to park about 10 minutes walk away in a local car park, then had to move it as ticket ran out, manage to park nearer but again, had to move it before 9 or the local traffic warden would slap a ticket on it (maybe)! Sarah was great and very helpful, she made our stay that little bit better.

St Austell who owns this property needs to get its finger out. People who run this establishment - lovely - but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. The bathroom has recently been refurbished- however- shower door did not fit properly. Room was very very pokey and the only air was a window that opened out onto the main road that takes all the traffic through town including Eden project so extremely noisy until around 1am until 6 am. Rooms were dirty - I wrote my name on the lamp stand in dust. If I sat on the side of the bed looking at iPad my head touched the sliding bathroom door and you can also hear the ablutions of room next door. We stayed in room 5.
