If you like the likes of Premier Inn then this place is not for you. It is old and quirky and very comfortable friendly place. You are made to feel welcome from the word go. The rooms are not huge but adequate, most with on-suite. Good english breakfast provided and if you want more (like extra bacon) just ask.

This was the third time we have stayed at Penkerris. Dorothy, the owner is a complete inspiration, in her 90s and still actively involved, always having a big smile. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast great. Penkerris is more like a home stay, yes the decor is a little old fashioned, you have never seen so many blankets...

This b&b was stepping back sixty years. In this modern world that was a joyful thing! Clean and comfortable, Dorothy et al were very accommodating. There are not many 92 year old hoteliers so good work Dorothy 👍🏻

This bed and breakfast, may not suit everyone, but for us it was perfect.Dorothy and her team helped in anyway they could. My husband has a massive appetite and they were more than happy to ensure his requirements were met at breakfast. There was so much choice of cereals and juices. We stayed out the back as we felt it was easier for...

I really enjoyed my stay at Penkerris. It's certainly old-fashioned, but I don't see that as a negative. The bed was comfy and clean, and breakfast was great; an abundance of cereals, fruit and juices, a cooked meal and loads of toast. I could come and go as I pleased. Dorothy is simply delightful - and where else could yuou...

Stayed for two nights over a weekend and had a great stay. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The small en-suite was adequate but there were also bigger shared bathrooms available. The breakfast was well cooked and there was a large choice of cereal. The décor is quite old fashioned but don't let this...

I stayed for two nights and found the room to be very comfortable and clean. The ensuite facilities were not your traditional style but more than adequate. We had seperate toilet and shower in diagonal corners of the room. There are also numerous other bathroom facilities available with different combinations of baths, showers bidets etc. Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked,...

Stayed here for one night in an "en suite double" when we were shown to our room I went straight to the loo tpand found there to be an adjoining door to another room with voices coming through at this point I nearly ran for it as I practically was on the rim of the toilet! Wasn't told it was...

This is an old house...built in the days of marble washstands and ceramic chamber pots. I thought I had done very well to install hand basins , two new bathrooms and a big shower room- .only to find everyone wanted "en-suite". I did install four "en suites". One of these "en suites" is between two rooms. We have keys to...

Well.....What can I say......I would advise not to visit here ! It is anything but relaxing and comfortable! This hotel is very dated and felt like I had stepped back in time by a century or two!! Also, there is one shower between all the guests which delayed me in getting out to explore sunny Cornwall !! TAKE MY ADVICE...DONT...

I just do not understand this. Four of the rooms are en-suite and for the others there are two bathrooms (-the pink bathroom has a w.c, washbasin, bidet, big bath and a shower over the bath--the blue bathroom has a bath, washbasin and w.c ), there is a separate wc not in a bathroom and there is a big shower...

We booked for 3 days to see this part of Cornwall and visit family. Very disappointed, left after 2nd night, room was not en-suite, you had to cross a sort of kitchen!! Loo cistern was coming adrift off the wall, the whole place smelled musty. The window wouldn't shut properly, appeared to be broken and there were a lot of...

Tastes do differ! Guests say to me - "How much extra do you charge for the room with a little kitchen" and yet other people say " I am on holiday and I do NOT want to see a kitchenette". I am so sorry these people didn't like the room and I do so wish they had mentioned any problems....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Penkerris is an enchanting creeper clad Edwardian residence with a lawned garden and ample parking situated right on the edge of this unspoiled Cornish village. There are shops, delightful old pubs and several restaurants just around the corner. There are three lovely beaches, excellent for surfing, one with our beach hut, within walking distance. It is a "Home from Home" offering real food. Meals are served in the beautiful dining room. The lounge is bright and cosy with a log fire in winter. The lawn is fine for badminton; there are swings for the children, picnic tables and a barbecue. St Agnes is central for touring and is only 8 miles from Truro. There are frequent buses between St Agnes, Truro and Newquay. Penkerris is very easy to find. From the big roundabout on the A30 at Chiverton, take the B3277 to St Agnes (3m). Penkerris is just inside the village sign. We are pet and dog friendly. Prices From £25.00 Per person including breakfast. ... more   less
