The Waterwheel is situated in a wooded valley beside a river. We offer bed and breakfast accommodation in our fourteen en-suite bedrooms. In the evenings guests can have a drink in the licensed bar and eat in the on-site elegant restaurant, or a 10 minute brisk walk will take them into St Austell town centre. There is a delightful terrace and garden to explore and an ancient well, Druid's chair and waterfall at the bottom of the garden.

We had a warm welcome from Francesca and were very pleased with our room, overlooking the garden. The room was comfortable and spotless. We ate in the restaurant every evening and the choice of menu for breakfast and dinner was extensive. Can’t forget Kernow, who loves his tummy tickles. We enjoyed it so much (despite the weather) that we have booked again for next spring. One of the friendliest places we have stayed in.

Stayed here with a group of walking friends. Francesca and Mark and their team make you feel very welcome. Excellent service; great menu; the rooms are super comfortable and it’s quiet. I really enjoyed the gardens and the bonus of the sauna, this was bliss after a day of walking

Very welcoming small hotel. Comfortable and spotlessly clean. We took our dog who was made most welcome. There is also a restaurant that serves evening meals from a varied menu and reasonable priced. All the staff made you feel welcome. I would recommend this hotel.

Welcomed by Francesca and helped to our room with our plentiful luggage as we were doing a 15 day Cornwall road trip, 3 nights of which were at the Waterwheel Room excellent - looked out, from a Juliette Balcony, to a fabulous sub tropical garden complete with pond and waterfall. Our bedroom and public areas spotlessly clean. Bar not open between 11am to 4pm but we were out most days so this was not an issue. We took our own drinks out into the garden and sat in the sunshine in the decked area beside the pond. Breakfast was the best I had in Cornwall - veggie sausages and delicious yoghurt with compote and home made granola - so, so good. Had dinner first night at the Waterwheel and it too was lovely - plenty of options ( and for me too being vegetarian). The location is quite a way from Charlestown Harbour but we hopped in the car or took a taxi to visit tit the times we were there. All in all I would highly recommend this charming, friendly Inn.
