We needed to stay near St Austell for one night with our dog. We are so pleased we chose the Waterwheel Inn. The owners are so keen to help without being overbearing. They provided us with lots of valuable information about the town and area. In addition, the food in the restaurant was excellent; well cooked and very delicious. The...

Stayed here 3 nights a couple of pensioners plus his mother. The owners were superb from the time we booked. They even arranged a birthday cake for us. The Inn is a credit to them, such a friendly atmosphere, beautifully decorated, spotless throughout and amazing food. We had dinner each night, a good selection and very reasonably price. The quality...

A warm and friendly welcome and a beautifully decorated room with great facilities and the comfiest bed. We had a fantastic breakfast from the wide choice offered and then enjoyed our morning coffee on the decking in the most beautiful garden. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning.

From arrival to departure - first rate all round. A fine example of what a well-run inn/hotel should be. A warm and friendly welcome, wonderful atmosphere and splendid food. Well situated for access to the whole of Cornwall. We will return!

This is a small but very welcoming hotel very conveniently placed for Heligan, Caerhays Castle and Eden. The aim of Mark and Francesca is to make you feel at home and they do - making us feel that we were their personal guests. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent (breakfast and dinner - only slight niggle is that...

Great place to stay. Great hosts; Francesca and Mark. The rooms are small, but then so was the price. They were comfortable and have everything you need. Currently only seven rooms, but they are building on six more (but the works didn't disturb us). Nice bar and great restaurant. We stayed three nights and had planned to only eat there...

This hotel was having an extension built while we were staying there but didn't impact our stay at all. The room was small but beautiful, with en suit and tea and coffee facilities. The owners were very friendly. Would definitely go back.

Great Hospitality and food. Special mention of help and suggested visit the Holywell Chapel. This a 'thin place', contact with Cornwall's spiritual heritage. Mustn't for get Curwen the dog who welcomes all visitors in a friendly, but not excessive manner. Well worth a visit and near Eden Project.

Thank you for your lovely review. I had to look up what a "thin place' was; there are many descriptions but I love this Celtic saying;- "Heaven and earth are only three feet apart, but in thin places that distance is even shorter". That is pretty much how I feel about the place. Its a bit like having fairies at...
