I cannot praise this hotel enough. We had enjoyed this hotel previously and booked an off-peak 2-night break just prior to the first Covid lockdown, which of course we had to cancel. They held over our booking for more than 18 months, during which a lot of upgrading and improvements took place. When we were finally ready to rebook they honoured the original booking in full, rather than just transfer over the credit as a lot of other hotels do. As a result we are enjoying a wonderful room, outstanding meal and lovely facilities. The staff have been excellent, reception was smooth and efficient, the restaurant food and the service was just fabulous. This contrasts starkly with how others we know have experienced post-Covid situations relating to prior bookings with other accommodation and hotels. I would come back here whenever we visit Cornwall. Thank you Cornwall Hotel and Spa.

I,m sure the poor reviews on trip advisor could not have been written by people who actually stayed at the Cornwall. The location is brilliant set in spacious grounds and woodland and the welcome by Chelsea in reception could not have been better. Our room 218's balcony was perfectly set for open country views and equipped with all the necessary items you would expect from a top hotel. Pristine clean and a bathroom which you would think had been refurbished the week before with ample toiletries ,towels and dressing gowns. The rooms are so quiet for that perfect nights sleep . During our 3 night stay we ate breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals and all were faultless. The dining staff led by the very attentive and professional Ken who was ably backed by the cheerful and constantly smiling Sue and the effervescent Olivia add that extra something to a stay at the Cornwall. It just seems that all the staff enjoyed working there and nothing was too much trouble to make the guests, stay that extra enjoyable. A previous comment about glasses left in public areas must be super rare. Charmaine one of the public areas cleaners is not only proud of the hotel but the dedication to keeping the hotel super clean is a credit to her and the rest of the cleaners. We enjoyed our stay so much that we asked on check out if it was possible to stay another night but unfortunately the Friday was fully booked. Still we will put that right when we will return to this little gem In the county of Cornwall

We booked a one night stay at the Cornwall in a luxury room on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate paying in full in advance of our stay. We had a lovely room with a balcony, comfy beds and large bathroom. On arrival the staff on reception were very friendly and welcoming and we had an excellent meal in the evening in the dining room and found the service to be very efficient. The food was delicious as well. All of the hotel was very clean and particularly the pool area with the pool, changing rooms, sauna and steam room all spotless. Unfortunately when we came to check out we found we had been charged for our evening meal which should have been included and when this was queried it took quite a while for this to be rectified with the person on reception insisting we were on a bed and breakfast rate so would have to pay for the meal. It was obvious from the bill we were presented with that we were on the dinner, bed and breakfast rate so I'm not sure why this wasn't put right immediately. Eventually they issued us with a new bill just for our drinks which we were of course happy to pay for. I understand mistakes are made but this should have been rectified sooner and a "sorry" or "oops that looks like a mistake" would have been welcome but no apology was made. The reception was very busy at the time as well so we left feeling very flat after what had been up to that point a very nice stay.

We live locally and I wanted to treat my Nan to afternoon tea for her birthday, so my self, mum and nan went for afternoon tea at the Laura Ashley tea rooms. It was below average! We waited an hour before we even had a drink, and the afternoon tea itself was far from what we expected! It was so unimaginative- sandwiches consisted of Cheese, ham and chutney and cucumber with cream cheese(which was nonexistent so it maybe as well of just been cucumber)! They were so disappointing! The mini cakes again were not the best I have experienced! All in all a bit of a let down and won’t be returning! At £26pp and with a total bill of over £70 I feel totally ripped off! I certainly would not recommend for afternoon tea!
