Welcome to this quirky, Camino inspired hostel just a short leafy lane from the Eden Project. Facilities at this comfortably converted stable yard include free wifi, mixed bunk rooms and a communal lounge. Self-caterers are always welcome in the courtyard kitchen. A simple DIY toasty breakfast is included, cooked food is also available on request. The hostel is in Garker Hamlet inland of St Austell bay, 2 miles from the Northwest Coast Path at Carlyon Bay and less than two miles off the ancient Saints Way pilgrimage trail. National Cycle routes 2 and 3 converge close to the gate less than 60 miles from Lands End. St. Austell and Par mainline railway stations are both nearby providing easy access to Newquay, Truro and onwards to Penzance and Falmouth. Edens Yard can accommodate cars by prior arrangement.

This is the best hostel I have stayed at so far. There is really good company around the fireplace in the yard. In case you are alone Albert the cat will be happy to keep you company. The beds are really comfy and everything is just really clean. There is tasty dinner and breakfast for little money. Its proper service for a really good price! Will be happy to stop by in the new season

I stayed for two nights at Edens Yard Backpackers to visit the Eden Project which is about a 20 minutes walk from the hostel and the hostel was way cheaper than the YHA. Even for a shy person like me it was a great place to stay with a lot of nice people. The bathroom is clean as well as the dorms. The dorm was just a little bit cold during the night as it is build in an old barn. I got picked up from the station and brought back for only £5 each way.

Great news that you enjoyed your stay and found it good value. sorry you were a little cold, the dorms do cool at night so it is always a good idea to keep the blankets handy, I try to keep one on each bed but yours might have ended up back in the blanket box. We appreciate green Travel and are happy to do the pick ups. We hope you feel confident to visit more social places and enjoy many more such travels.

Our five nights in Cornwall were spent here and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for value for money accommodation. The owners Neill and Julie were friendly and helpful , accommodation was super clean and comfortable.Tea and coffee was provided and burgers could be ordered throughout the day. A nice touch was to find complimentary toiletries in the bathroom (brilliant if you arrive late and are not sure where the shops are). Internet was available but not always reliable There were 8 people to each dormitory, during our stay fellow travellers were quiet and considerate. At night you could sit around a brazier filled with hot coals if you wanted company and a good vibe. And if you needed a little TLC Albert the rescue cat was on hand.

Stayed here for one night and was very pleased with my stay! As a solo traveller it can always be a bit daunting going into a hostel on your own but the staff were very warm and welcoming. Everyone very friendly and made you feel at home. Lovely evening meal cooked by the host and able to socialise with everyone in the communal area. VERY comfy beds and has everything you need. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend anyone else to do so too!

Stayed en route to Lands End. Strange set up, everyone dossing about in front concrete yard until the early hours. All cramped together in two stable rooms. Beds comfy but noisy from other guests and creaky stable doors and decor much to be desired. The female owner quite a starchy woman who is making a LOT of money from two shabby rooms. Most visitors young backpackers who think they have found heaven! Seems like the owners dont want to grow up, instead drinking away with twenty something travellers. Neal the other owner loves the sound of his own voice and anything you have done, he has done and more. So if you want a good rest book elsewhere as people are up in said courtyard in front of shabby stables clanging about from 6.30am onwards. Be warned! Hosts are making money from a run down backpackers better suited in Oz and fake friendliness from Julia the host. Would not book again.

We are really sorry you did not enjoy your stay, though for all our deficiencies we appear to compare well with your other property reviews . I guess our own presence and the upcycled eco decor is a matter of personal taste but you make some really useful points about space and noise. Like many seasonal businesses we enjoy full occupancy for a relatively short time during which one of the dorms is quite compact though this is clearly visible on our property photos. It does enable us to keep our prices down through high season, we prefer not to raise our prices for those that must travel during peak months. We are one of the most inexpensive hostels in Cornwall in part to reflect our simple offering. The Yard is now vacated and quiet by 22.00 every night with those wishing to continue their conversations invited to do so in the conservatory. Had you passed this onto us more constructively at the time you could have helped make this improvement sooner. I sincerely (yes sincerely) hope you find your Shangri-La soon.
