Still not had a reply from the management or an apology for our awful stay!! See photos of furniture in the bedroom and a visitor in the bathroom! We left after one night. No ambiance, carpets filthy and in need of a hoover. It is not a spa! 2 treatment rooms - a long way away from the pool - down cold dirty corridors! No loungers out - the photos they have on their website are from 20 years ago. It needs a deep clean and a lot of tlc!!!

We had a spa package for 2 today. They got us in super short notice and were so kind and welcoming. We had The best treatments we have ever had here! Spa staff SO lovely and really good at their jobs, absolutely flawless. The only let down was the freezing cold pool, even hot tub freezing cold.

Room Tip: The pool is really cold and the spa treatment rooms are quite a walk from reception.

The hotel was lovely, a real getaway. The hotel staff were friendly and polite. The room was lovely. Clean, spacious and quiet. The breakfast was very good, catering for whatever we required. No gluten free bread on the first day (bank holiday Monday after Christmas) but that was understandable. On the second day had the choice of GF bread. The staff were very polite and friendly, very helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Classed as a spa when it should not be, and it has 4 stars rating??? No – definitely not! Hotel inspector needs to get in there. It has an indoor pool – not with the loungers you see in the pictures – the pictures are LIES – the pool has old basket wicker loungers – and the pool is approx. 300 m down a lot of corridors to another building where the treatment rooms are located. The corridors are dirty and cold. They had no nice Xmas decorations up - a xmas tree in the reception and one in the bistro. The bar top was lined with some garlands better suited for a summer party – not Xmas. The rooms were very dirty, and this hotel is in desperate need of some tender loving care (as well as a crew of staff with hoovers, mop, spray polish and dusters). I would not go back – ever. I think I might have been slightly traumatised by both of my room chairs which should be burnt. I have great photos. One looked like it had bird poo on it. It had also a large stain from I don’t know what. The other I showed to my travel companion and she physically gasped and her mouth fell open. There was a silver fish on the sink in my bathroom, which appeared whilst I was at breakfast. My duvet smelled of smoke, there was someone smoking the room next to me and the bed was mightily uncomfortable. Bed bugs? I itched all night long. I feel it important to say that I really would like to say the staff were great – but they’re not. They are nonchalant and uncaring. The manager almost shrugged – he didn’t – as we were speaking to him about the plethora of problems we had encountered. He didn’t apologise and he seemed annoyed with us! They were waiting for us – two of them – when we left the treatment room after our facials (already paid for!) – why I don’t know. To make sure we left quietly, perhaps? The food was gloriously good - I don’t know how the chef pulled that out of the bag but could not fault the food ordered from the menu. However, the ‘buffet’ breakfast was like something from faulty towers or, worse, the 1970’s. With dried up sliced cheese, salami and a few boiled, peeled, eggs – all under cling film; nice and sweaty. No tongs for the bread – sliced and packed into a bread bin where I saw 3 x different couples all dive in there with their fingers... Had to ask for spoons for cereal. Told to take a cup and saucer and ask if we wanted coffee or tea. The ‘brasserie’ / ‘bistro’ was a soulless room with a massive tree in the middle of some scattered wooden tables (not set), no tablecloths – just bare. Lights on bright. At dinner, we asked for wine – they didn’t have the one we wanted, so we chose another which came nice and warm (white) so we asked for an ice bucket. A lot of things in this hotel do not make sense – covid safe in overplay sometimes (we were informed on check in that our rooms would not be cleaned in 5 days, unless we asked, because of covid), but then, they are carelessly covid unaware at other times (eg. Asked for salt and pepper and was passed a set from the next table which had just been vacated by a chap on his own). The Lift, door handles and basically most every carpet and public area needs cleaning. Carpet had mud, stains and was in general disrepair. The door handles had more fingerprints than the underground handrail. With a spillage of something down the inside of the elevator. We left after one night – paid for 5 before arriving – but have been promised that they will refund 3 nights through Secret Escapes. The treatments were, for me, excellent. Kerri was very caring and a great beautician. Great pedi and facial. My travel companion however had a pedi and was wounded by the sharp foot file which was used on the soft part of the foot (either side in the middle) causing red raw exposed 2nd layer of skin. We had to put savlon on this as it became inflamed and was very painful. I think that’s all I have to say about that. There are other things – hairdryer over 10 years old? Dirty net curtains. Stains on the curtains.
