We come here for Sunday lunch every year and although chefs come and go the standard is always the same - great. The two (Polish?) waitresses were charming and efficient and always smiling. I had Caesar salad with anchovies (not tinned) and roast beef, the beef was tender, Yorkshire pudd crispy, the best roast potatoes I have tasted for ages...

We visited Housel Bay Hotel yesterday (21 Sept 2014) for coffee and liked it so much that we stayed on for lunch. The welcome from the two charming waitresses was as warm and friendly as could be. In fact, the service from them throughout was absolutely faultless. The Sunday Lunch menu was exceptionally good value and all the food delicious....

We stopped at the Housel Bay hotel after a walk round the coastal path and had the most wonderful time sitting in the sun on the terrace enjoying the view over the bay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food absolutely delicious. My husband said his was the best lobster he had eaten in years. The fish...

I would not recommend this hotel - we stopped for lunch a few times last summer, and found the ambience fairly unfriendly. Over the past few years we have been a few times. On the last occasion we asked if lunch was being served - it was in winter so we werent sure. We were told a firm no to...

My wife and I stayed at the Housel Bay recently for weekend break on The Lizard and we're thoroughly satisfied with the experience. The staff were all polite, helpful and good natured and the owners were friendly and good company. The location is stunning and the views from the forward facing rooms magnificent. The staff at breakfast and in the...

This place was a vaguely weird experience. I have never stayed anywhere where there seemed to be an 'in-crowd' and in which those who did not know the manager personally were somehow superfluous. Now - my wife and I are not exactly the kind of people who expect to barrel into hilarious badinage with the staff - but we do...

Where to begin, The hotel is located on one of the most beautiful locations, but location alone is not enough. We had the most unusual welcome ever, nobody ever said welcome. The owner took our name and disappeared in his office for about 10 minutes without saying one word and just left us there. We got a room the size...

Firstly let me thank you for taking the time to review the Housel Bay Hotel. It was with much regret to read that your visit to the Housel Bay was not satisfactory. I intend to address each issue that has arisen in your review. Let me remind you that I did not disappear during your check-in I simply said I...

Really enjoyed staying in this hotel,, the location was brilliant directly on the South West Coastpath and the views were amazing in both directions. The hotel is now a bit tired and probably needs a facelift but we didn't need a state of the art white box and it has loads of character, bit like staying in a museum, loads...

The Housel Bay Hotel is really just an average place, with decent food, in an excellent location. Would recommend to a friend, but only with the above disclaimer. We liked the Cornish staff, as it felt more authentic.

We are situated in a spectacular location at the Lizard in Cornwall. A lovely sandy cove nestles beneath the Hotel, and the Cornish Coast Path runs through the gardens and cliff lands. A place in which to walk, to eat and drink well and to set aside the cares of the world.
