We had a great stay here and found the people running the hostel very helpful. Our room had a fabulous view and the Self catering kitchen area was very clean. There are lots of places to visit from here and walks that are great in both directions.

we came here just after 4pm last Friday and tried to enquire about a possible room for later on in our holiday. Entrance was shut and no staff. as we didnt have internet access we didnt know when staff would be coming on reception. However there was a note saying fully booked for that evening (ok so what) but we... More

Sorry we weren't around to help you but as the site is often run by volunteers we can only expect them to be available during opening hours. Sometimes when we are full it is because we have a group staying who have sole use of the building which would mean that we would not be open to the public at... More

I arrived here after walking 14 miles along the coast path. I was tired and aching and looking forward to a rest and a shower. Luckily it was 5 pm or I would have had to hang around outside until it opened. I had pre-booked a room months ago for £39 and the volunteer who serviced me had a printout... More

Stunning view from the room, this fascinating building lays between the lighthouse and the sea shore, lots of breathtaking paths alongside the cliffs a few meters away. Very kind yha volunteers helped me a lot during the stay. Big kitchen, good beds, beautiful indoor (sitting and dinner room with full of light and big windows) and outdoor (garden). Small but... Our wonderful volunteers really make YHA Lizard a special place to stay. They come for 7 days at a time and work very hard while they are with us. This place is awesome! Beautiful building, stunning setting, cheap, private rooms available. Clean, efficient, local knowledge, friendly staff and guests. Awesome night watching thunderstorms over the sea and the lighthouse behind us warning with the foghorn. Stunning Breakfast at Polpeor Cafe looking out over The Lizard Point at the stunning sea spotting seals. Wonderful place, a "must see".

Fantastic location, right in front of the lighthouse, with wonderful views, coastal walks and extensive gardens but, despite the recent renovation, some of the bedrooms are tiny (for 4 adult men with luggage) and the bunk beds are barely 6 foot. Watch out for the automatic fog horn (especially in rooms facing the lighthouse) as earplugs may be needed! Nice... More

Thanks Jimibean, the building was renovated about 10 years ago by the National Trust and unfortunately room size is not something we can do much about. However as you rightly pointed out private rooms are a bit larger with fab sea views. More

We enjoyed a wonderful two night stay recently at yha lizard point. Amazing views spotless clean rooms and good self catering facilities. Thanks aimehazell, yes the foghorn can be a bit of a disturbance but we do sell earplugs at reception :) Luckily these days its a digital tone rather than a mighty blast so most people barely notice it More

Loved the location of this hostel. Great manager, lovely and clean Kitchen was really big and well equiped. Our room was small but adequate as the living room was huge. Do have a pasty from Anns in the village whilst you are here! Really noisy pipes though . . . thought the fog horn was going off!!

Thank ShortEddie

We have had a problem with noisy pipes this year.....I think we have solved it now but you just never can tell in an old building! You can ignore the pipes and the fog horn with Ann's Pasties, Roskilly's Ice Creams and luscious cream teas at every turn...yum More

This hostel was kept spotless throughout our stay by two wonderful volunteer ladies. The kitchen was really well equipped, plenty of space to store food and good quality cooking equipment. Being in such an amazing location means that we are lacking the infrastructure for WiFi throughout the building. The best thing to do though is switch off your device, pour a glass of your favourite drink and sit back and enjoy one of Lizard's amazing sunsets instead More
