My wife and I rented the River House during the summer and had all of our meals at the restaurant. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the team. John, who owns and manages the resort, was super helpful and interested in making our trip the best experience. I highly recommend Sorensen's and... More

In July 2014, my hiking group (6 people) rented the " River House" , a 3-bedroom house across from the main buildings. This is a relatively small house with 2 bedrooms and a loft--not really 3 separate bedrooms. While it was functional, it was almost unbearably HOT!! The upstairs "bedrooms" each have only one small window and management left a... More

We spent 2 nights, May 21 and 22, at Sorensen's and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have spent many other nights there and have always enjoyed it- comfortable cabins, delicious food, especially the beef stew for dinner, and almost anything for breakfast or lunch. We were there for for a little fishing and just getting away. Staff were wonderful. I... More

We camp across the road from this place and finally stopped in for breakfast this past year. The food was delicious and priced very well. I have also had lunch here and it was also very good. I have yet to try dinner - the dinner prices were higher than I was willing to pay this time around, and you... More

Sorenson's is the perfect high-Sierra get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Individual cabins, which are sized for one/two, families or large groups are clean, comfortable and contain all amenities. Restaurant on site serves home made meals (think fresh salmon, stew, pies) and there are many hiking trails nearby. In the winter there are some great snow... More

We spent four days last week with our new puppy in the Sheepherder Cabin at Sorensen's. We have been coming here for decades, mostly in the winter for snow activities. This time we had so much fun hiking in Hope Valley that we will come again for spring and summer activities. They were even good enough to deliver a meal... More

We had a great should season mini-vacation at Sorenson's. The cabin was comfy and cozy, a hike right out the back door, great food and, best of all, not TV's, radios or cell service. Perfect place to unwind!

We spent 4 nights at Sorensen's this past winter. A lovely, relaxing getaway. Close to all sorts of fun things: skiing, South Lake Tahoe, hot springs, Gardnerville (Basque food) snowshoeing right outside the door. Lovely, intimate dining room with fireplace. Most of the food was excellent. Good wine selection too. Wonderful staff. Great collection of books at their "shop." Two... More

Husband and I spent a night here a couple days ago to celebrate our 36th anniversary, after driving by for 9 years- too busy to stop. We will be back to stay longer soon… complimentary bottle of wine in our "Chapel Cabin", wood-fired do it yourself sauna ( so much fun), very kind staff, slept great, yummy dinner and breakfast.... My wife and I varied from our traditional routine for our spring cross-country skiing trip by staying at this small, intimate resort, rather than on the west shore of Lake Tahoe and driving to the Kirkwood XC skiing center, adjacent to the alpine skiing resort. This was particularly beneficial this year, in an effort to ameliorate the meager snowfall which... More
