My husband and I had a great stay last weekend 7/8th May, it was a great getaway from City life. Greeted by nice friendly staff, our room was tastefully decorated, we had lovely views of the lake with its wild ducks that were a joy to watch while having a coffee in the morning and a wine in the evening...

There are many better, cheaper guesthouses in the area to stay at. Briars is riding off its longstanding name, but the rooms need some work. Mattress and pillows uncomfortable, bathrooms daggy, breakfast not very nice at all. We noticed many other quaint little guest houses along our travels that we wish we had looked into instead. For $300+ per night,...

When I read trip adviser review on this place last week I found it mixed & quite contradictory. Having stayed there a night, I know why. Like last week's review I read: we really enjoyed our 18hrs accom & meals there; BUT Booked a fortnight ago & not able to get reply by email about whether a cooked breakfast &...

We visited the Southern Highlands for a party, and were very happy with our overnight accommodation at Briars Lodge. The room was well designed and attractively decorated. The outlook was beautiful - opening onto a grassed area and overlooking the lake. The whole complex was attractive and well cared for. It looked like a beautiful venue for weddings too. It's...

The rooms were a lovely surprise. Spacious with 3 steps leading down to a small sitting area. The doors opened up to view the pond and ducks-perfect if you have children who can enjoy running about. We played tennis and ate at the inn. The room was heated to perfection and the huge bed so comfortable. The only downside our...

we had a family lunch here in honor of my wife's 60th birthday. we had our own function room which was good and the menu was typical pub type cuisine which was plentiful and consistent quality. Not "wow" but no complaints either.

I've eaten here when visiting the area on 3 occasions. Each time I have the roast of the day because its too good to go past. Serving portions are generous - so much so that I have yet been able to have one of their desserts much to my disappointment as they look AMAZING. Good wine selection and nice ambiance...

I had been past a few years ago and didn't stop for dinner as the ambience and food didn't look appealing. Well... We went on Friday and it was fabulous! I had the Roast Pork which was massive but delicious! My husband had the lamb shoulder which he devoured. Fires were burning and it was a lovely warm atmosphere. My...

Pleasant country pub. Nothing exciting, but doesn't let you down either. Nice to sit outside on a sunny autumn day, imbibing a pint of Old Speckled Hen. Strange premium for "Chef Cooked" steak (as opposed to "cook yourself" - 30% more expensive). Not sure what message that sends, given the chef would otherwise be standing around watching you cook it....
