Bear Creek Mountain Resort is often praised for its enchanting atmosphere, with comfortable rooms featuring cozy fireplaces and engaging activities such as karaoke. While the resort is generally commended for its cleanliness and well-kept facilities, there have been occasional service delays. The staff is typically regarded as friendly and helpful, but some guests have reported difficulties in booking spa appointments and instances of inattentiveness.
Room experiences vary, with praises for spaciousness and comfort contrasting with concerns about maintenance and cleanliness. The amenities, including pools and a spa, are popular, though not all guests were satisfied with their availability. Concerns about the resort being overpriced have been raised, particularly regarding additional charges for services that some travelers do not feel offer good value.

Detailed Reviews
I visited Bear Creek Mountain resort from July 24-27 with my family and as usual, it did not disappoint. We were very adamant to book any hotels/resorts with everything that has been going on with covid19, but after being quarantined in an NYC apartment with children for 4 months, and having to cancel our summer vacation, we were in dire need for a getaway. We read all the protocols that were being followed/implemented to keep everyone safe on the BCMR website, and let me tell you- they have gone above and beyond keep the premises spick and span. The staff members were constantly wiping elevator buttons, door handles, tables, chairs and other surfaces. Everyone wore a mask indoor (except for obviously in your own room or when eating), and the outside property is ample enough for guests to enjoy a nice walk or hike while still maintaining physical/social distance. The food at the Trails end cafe is great for Breakfast and Lunch, and dinner at the Grille is phenomenal (just make sure to make dinner reservations). All in all this was a great family getaway as per usual. The children had a blast in the outdoor pool, hiking and riding their scooters, and we can’t wait to return! Thank you BCMR team!!

After researching about 10 resorts, B&B's, etc in the Poconos, we choose Bear Creek Mountain Resort for a fall getaway. My wife and I are retired, both over 70 and my wife has asthma, so the most important thing to us were their measures to prevent spread of Covid. Everything we saw showed that these measures were taken very seriously by all employees.
We booked a queen suite that was ready when we arrived and had everything that was promised on the web site. The separate bedroom worked great when I got up early and my wife wanted to sleep in.
Now for the fun. The weather cooperated very well for us both days. We played cornhole and horse shoes one afternoon. Next day we went for a 2 hour hike on marked trails through woods and then up on the ski mountain. Great hike! Then we played mini-golf (small green with 4 holes), disc golf (first time) , swam in the heated outdoor pool and got in the hot tub. Pool was very comfortable.
Ate one dinner at The Grill, it was closed the other night we were there. Food and service were good, as always.
Ordered breakfast sandwiches from the Trails End Cafe and ate in the room. Worked great for us.
Overall this resort was just what we wanted. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Grounds were clean and well maintained. With all the available activities we kept busy but yet I found overall we had a relaxing getaway. We are planning to return in the spring after ski season, hopefully for at least 3 days to do it all over again.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort is a great place to get away...it's clean, friendly and the skiing hills are perfect for beginners on up...When you look around, everyone seems to be having an enjoyable time. The rooms have a great layout (we had the 2 queen bed suite) with the beds separate from the sitting area. We bring our own food and the sink area is a plus!! Would highly recommend a stay. Thank you!

I was there for a business meeting. We had reserved our rooms weeks before arriving. I didn't get into my room until around 7pm and the excuse was the resort was full the night before so they were behind. This resort isn't off of the interstate so people won't just show up looking for rooms. Poor planning lead to a very long wait after a day of travel from Atlanta GA. The room they put me in was dirty....peanuts and other snacks on the floor. I noticed when I took my shoes off and stepped on these items with my socks on. Then I noticed that there were bugs in the room. Flying bugs on the ceiling, beds and walls. They moved me to another room, but the damage was done on my perception of this "resort". The following morning when I was checking out I noticed I had a balance showing on my bill. It was a resort fee/tax that wasn't included in the quoted price when I booked with the "resort". They took the charge off and said that it was accidentally added.
I would not recommend staying here.

Snow machines ran all night and sound like vacuums so no one in my family had any sleep. It’s such a shame because had that not happen we would have ranked the hotel higher. But first and foremost a hotel should be more concerned for the sleeping guests than slopes for the following day.
Check in was concerning because I received a receipt with an amount for the room $100 over the price I pre-paid a month ago. The young guy at the counter was not educated enough to explain. A lady came over and helped explain and that in fact I wasn’t charged more. But the receipt was wrong in any event.
Our room was a King suite with slopes view and very good but for knowing we would hear the snow makers all night I would choose the other side of the building. The room was clean. Tub worked. Shower good. Beds ok. Sleep couch ok as well.
Trails end cafe was very good and reasonable food. We did not eat at the Grill. We did not see anything saying Bear bites although it advertised to be in existence to March. The store was small. The Eatery didn’t exist either that we could find. The map provided by front desk was confusing.
Indoor pool and hot tub clean and perfect. Outdoor hot tub great. Outdoor pool we did not use. The downsize to the outdoor pool is you have to walk outside to pool in very cold and sometimes snow. Other hotels in area have the outdoor pool start inside and you swim outside keeping you warm.

Hi reiki4life, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am sorry that you were not able to sleep while we were making snow for our slopes. Unfortunately, we did not receive much natural snow this season and we needed to take every opportunity we had to make our own. I am sorry we were not able to move your room for you during your stay. We will definitely use your comments as a coaching opportunity for our Front desk team in regard to making guests aware when we will be making snow overnight. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. With hospitality, Sean Lauth Hotel Manager

Me and my husband have been going to bear creek every year for a long time. It has been a nice affordable getaway every single summer. Last year we noticed some price hikes and other money grabs, and this year we noticed even more. The resort fee is a little ridiculously high in price now considering the paddle boards have been broken for years now so they don’t turn right and are very hard to control. When we first started coming we very much looked forward to a quiet day paddling on the lake, now we don’t even bother. Also many activities you have to pay an extra fee for as well. fee would be more understandable if they didn’t have the pool over flowing with kids making it hard to enjoy. Maybe the hotel should add in some adult swim only times every day like other pools do. Especially when you book a room and there’s open swim or the camp. We already were turned off last year when upon arrival we realized that the pool was going to be overtaken by children everyday from the camp and open swim... Last year a kid from camp threw up in the pool first thing when we got in, and then the pool was closed all day… and we still paid a resort fee. Every time we wanted to go in the hot tub this year, there were a bunch of kids playing in that as well and there is no sign about unsupervised kids in the hot tub… which there really should be. There should be someone actively watching and kicking kids out considering I saw many workers wandering around the property at all times. There also really should be more reclining pool chairs. This year a family took 90% of them every morning with their towels by like 9 am, even tho they weren’t even down there. Seems unfair to allow that. Food options are less and less vegetarian friendly, even tho society as a whole has been moving the opposite way. Breakfast is very limited now, and so is the lunch menu for trails end. No good meals, only snacks. (Black bean burger is dry and sub par, get at least a beyond burger already!) Food is not as good tasting as it used to be either, and inconsistent. one morning I had a giant croissant with a tiny slice of egg in it, one day had a bagel overflowing with eggs. Had a cappuccino half full one day and well made the next. The grille is ridiculously overpriced for mediocre food and again… very limited options. I will also say our room had trash in it all over the bathroom floor when we came in as well, and the shower floor was so dirty upon arrival. Sadly I think this may have been our last trip to bear creek. And we’ve been coming every summer for years . I will say that all the staff are all lovely and kind. I especially love all the bartenders and trails end cafe staff. Very wonderful humans. I just wish it was the same as it was when we first started coming.

Our room was dirty upon arrival, I was glad I brought my chlorox wipes. Place was nice, but small. Check in person was very nice and made our check in easy. Very, very convenient if you are skiing and tubing, our son enjoyed that a lot. Food and drinks were very good. First night at bar off of lodge area was nice, food very good, bartender seemed to be a little disengaged with us and could have pumped our bill up a bit more, if he didn't make us feel like he didn't want to be bothered. We would have definitely ordered more food and drinks. Lodge area closed pretty quickly, our family was playing a board game and we were pretty much kicked out. Trail's End bar was very good, both food and drinks, and bartenders were super nice. When my husband went to inquire on Saturday night about a possible hour late check out so we could enjoy their breakfast buffet, gentleman at front desk rudely cut him off before he could even finish his sentence SO we left at check out time the next morning (Sunday morning) and ate else where. Didn't mind it BUT did not like the way it was handled. Bear Creek is a nice place but there is really nothing to do around it, so you would basically stay at resort until you left. Two nights was plenty (maybe better for just a one night stay if we were to go there again).

My husband and I our season pass holders at Bear Creek. We love skiing there, as such, we decided to spend a weekend there to help support the resort during this pandemic. We only live 45 minutes away. The resort sent me a link to check in on line at 8:30 am the 1st day of our stay. We arrived around 2 pm and were told that our room would be ready around 4 pm. We went skiing and returned to get our keys around 4:30 pm. At this time, our room still wasn’t ready and we were told that they would text us when it was cleaned. We were also advised that the rooms were being inspected for cleanliness at that time on our floor, which led us to believe that our room would be ready soon. Around 5:30 pm, I checked again to see if our room was clean and I was told that it wasn’t. When I inquired as to how much longer before we could go to our room, I was told that they could not give us an estimated time. By 6:45 pm we still did have a room and staff had no idea when we would be able to go to our room. At this point, I asked if they were thinking more like 8 pm for our room to be clean. The manager became snippy with us and blamed our lack of a room with Covid. When I asked what we were paying for, if we couldn’t get in our room until late at night, I received more excuses. Unfortunately, we canceled our reservation and went home. I would never recommend this resort to anyone to stay. We would have appreciated it more, if the staff and management were honest with us and told us that there was no way our room would be ready by their 4 pm check in. Instead we received the run around from staff, who had no regard for their customers.

Ok, first I have been coming here several times a year almost a decade and we loved it until this year! I noticed the day prior to my arrival that Priceline had a better room for a lower price $200+. I had a standard double and a king suite was available fir $200 + less. I called the hotel. The agent refused to match the price, change my room to the King Suite or let me cancel so I could book through Priceline. Our room wasn’t ready at Checkin and we had to wait, desk clerk very unhelpful, refused to escalate to management, room was a sauna and they kept blaming us for opening the window but it was 76 degrees! Btw no towels at pool too and no staff indoors ensuring social distancing AT ALL! Don’t waste your money! Sad, I had really liked it there! :-( If you must go, do not book through the hotel!

Timing of this trip required a two night minimum stay. This meant that we spent much time within the resort (outside ski conditions were less than ideal because of unusual warmth). The room was basic and not clean. We had to call for appropriate amount of towels and soap. The kitchenette area of our suite was dirty (the microwave was filthy) and devoid of any basics (no plates, no cutlery, no paper towels, no corkscrew!). We were not allowed to schedule a dinner reservation on Saturday night but we were offered a spot at 4p! Who wants to interrupt a ski day for such an early meal! We were also unable to schedule spa services on our second day as we were offered a single slot at start of business for six women in our suite. We would have preferred to ski the second day but conditions declined and rain began. We would have been thrilled to spend a day in the spa but there was nothing available so we departed early. For the price paid, we did not feel pampered.
