We have stayed here multiple times yearly while visiting nearby family since the property opened. We were always pleased with the condition of the rooms and outdoor spaces and impressed that it was well maintained over many years. Sadly this may be our last stay. The room showed significant wear and tear, the landscape is unkempt, and the building exteriors are dirty and deteriorating. Never a luxury experience but it now borders on unacceptable. No soap by sink, only 2 towel sets (and there is no daily cleaning so two towels is all you get for the stay unless you go to the desk for more), and the already minimal hot breakfast buffet has been replaced by prepackaged cold offerings and over-ripe fruit. We will be looking for other options for our next stay.

This place doesn't deserve a star. Our family is involved in two travel sports, so we travel a lot. This is by far the worst hotel we have ever stepped foot in. We ended up leaving and finding another hotel. When we went to check in, we waited 5 minutes for the person at the desk to come back. She was miserable...no customer service...seemed pissed we were there. We got our room and when I went to open it, it was already ajar by a couple inches. No clue how long it was left open. Needless to say, we asked for another room. She was even more aggravated now. Entered our 2nd room, and we were taken back by how dirty and rundown the area was. Torn sofa cushions, filthy carpet, dirty counter tops, and the icing on the cake was the cockroach. Didn't even bring our stuff into the area...we left. We went to go tell the person at the desk and again, she wasn't there.

Where to begin… The carpeting was filthy, stained, and worn away in spots. The vents and exhaust fans were covered in dust. The furniture is cheap nylon/plastic and worn away in spots. There are no baking pans/sheets, and no toaster. The dishes and cutlery were used/dirty. The shower had horrible water pressure. There were stains on the walls. There is no breakfast to speak of, just a couple grab-and-go items. I witnessed drug deals in the parking lot almost every day. The cabinets were sticky/dirty. The microwave and kitchen sink handles were both broken. And to top it off there was black mold in one of the bathrooms. Then, after check-out, Sonesta kept $333.25 for "pet fees" and cleaning (the irony!), claiming that my SERVICE DOG defecated in the room!! I of course told them that was categorically false and provided pictures of the suite from my check-in, PROVING that the carpet was already stained/damaged. They refused to give me my money back, even when provided with this irrefutable evidence. Wrongfully taking money from disabled people? Do better Sonesta.

Walked in and it smelled sour. Sticky marks across the bathroom counter. Air vent had lint coming out of it. What appeared to be blood on shower curtain. Water marks across the walls. Couldn’t even bring myself to try to stay there. Asked to get a refund and didn’t get an argument. The grossest room I have ever been to in my life.

I don’t know where to start…..place looked great from the website. Checked in on a Friday night and there was one person working the entire hotel at 530pm. Walked into the room and smelled like someone just smoked a cigarette. The room was filthy! Cigarette burn marks on the furniture, carpet had many stains, holes in the walls, floor near kitchen so sticky my flip flops stuck to it. Opened drawers in bathroom and there was hair in it. Went down to the pool so the kids could swim and pool was cloudy. My son had goggles on and still could not see under water. Went to ask front desk solo worker for pool towels and there were none and he had to check people in so couldn’t clean any. I looked to go stay somewhere else but we were with my sons lacrosse team and he didn’t want to leave everyone. Also no other hotels in the area had rooms available, most likely due to tournament. Other people on property had similar complaints of their rooms so wasn’t worth trying to change. Tried to sleep but the AC was so loud and it was 95 degrees so we had to leave it on. Woke up next day and went to tournament in 95 degree heat . Got back and needed new towels to shower as we were only given two and there were three of us in the room. I was told to bring the dirty towels to the front desk and I could “trade” them in. Carried dirty towels across property and into front desk area where the lady handed me a trash bag and said to place them in there and then gave me two towels in another trash bag. I asked for one more so we could all shower and she said no, she can only give me what I traded in. So if I wanted another towel I had to come back down with a dirty one. My jaw dropped! We were pretty far from the front desk too so not like I could just hop over. The lady was very rude Saturday. Also to top it off the pool broke! The one good thing is the hotel did give us a small credit for that but in all honesty we should be credited for the entire stay. No one cleaned our room or even came by it to clean. Garbage was overflowing and no where to bring it outside the room as those garbage cans were also overflowing. I called to talk to management and no one really cared. Please save yourself the hassle and do NOT stay here!!

The staff was fine, no issues with them. The hotel however is the worst we've ever stayed at within the Sonesta Chain. Our room was dirty, including finding someone's underwear in a dresser drawer, we had a dirty used sponge under our sink with no dish soap, holes in the walls, our front door was missing the entire top frame, shower curtain was extremely dirty, drawers inside bathroom were greasy and stained with some sort of substance. Made them unusable, guest room door looked like someone had sat and picked the paint off, our floors hadn't been vacuumed, view from every ground floor room is a dirty stairwell so you can't even open your curtains. Dog poop on the sidewalks, the wood beams outside are rotting and chipping. This place felt like a rundown former apartment complex, which being honest, it seemed to be before converted into the hotel. People were clearly living there, sitting outside their apartments. Every other Sonesta we have stayed at entailed a full serve breakfast every morning with the ability to sit in the dining area. This one gave out frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches that I had to heat up in my own room. Other items included pre-packaged muffins, yogurt, or tiny cereal boxes. Essentially, we had to leave the hotel and eat out every morning for 7 days. I wish I had gotten more photos but we honestly tried to stay off property as long as we could, only coming back to sleep. We definitely won't be staying at this property again when we come to Malvern and I thought it all possible to fight and win over $1,100 I spent on this hotel stay I would. It's considered a lesson learned.

When I visited this hotel in 2019 I had such a great experience. Staff was professional, welcoming and responsive. And the room was just fine: Spacious and clean. Fast forward to several days ago, and I must say everything has gone downhill considerably. I sense the owners don't have or choose not to spend money on keeping the hotel fresh and well maintained. It is in desperate need of a makeover- railings have pealing paint, rooms, especially the bathrooms, are dingy. Also, although I was promised a quiet room, my neighbors chose to have a pot party on the evening I stayed. I felt as if they were occupying my room, the walls were so thin. When I went to the front desk to request a room change, the woman at the desk was very accommodating, but chose to basically ignore the fact that these individuals will illegally smoking marijuana in their room. (In Pennsylvania this is illegal.) Very disappointed in my stay and will not return again. Such a shame because this hotel has great bones and great potential.

Drove up from North Carolina on Friday for a three night stay. Had two bedroom suite with full size kitchen. Check-in was fast but clerk was not friendly. We were on the first floor located near the back. Rooms were clean upon initial inspection. There was no dishwashing liquid and there was a used sponge for dishwashing. Called front desk and were told those items could be purchased in the front. We were going to shop so bought those things in supermarket. There was a party going on at the other end of the walkway, but they didn’t disturb our stay. On Sunday, my son noticed a leak around the kitchen faucet. The shower/tub combination was very slippery. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay with a shopping plaza right across the street and Wawa a block away.

I stayed at the Sonesta ES Malvern last night . I will not be staying there again. The worst of which was my husband noticed an extra $100 added to our bill when we got home. I called the front desk and was rushed off after this front desk person Cecilia told me that they add that on for incidentals and damage and will be removed after the room is inspected. Needless to say the door was unlocked when we got there. the phone didn't work. They gave us a 2 bedroom handicap room. I requested a 1 bedroom King. The bathroom door was a pocket door that squealed . The paint was cracking in spots. I do need to add that I dealt with Tara or Cara Saturday night to confirm and she was less than friendly. I asked if it would be possible to get foam pillows and she said she didn't know and was cranky. She checked us in last night and was less than cordial. When the I tried to use the phone to call the front desk and it didn't work, I called directly from my phone and she wasn't helpful at all. Then this morning another woman checked us out after we asked for our breakfast. But... When we arrived no one was around for several minutes to help out. When I called this evening abou8t our 100.00 charge Cecilia answered the phone and was very rude and rushed me off and when I tried to ask another question she hung up on me. As I said I will not stay at your hotel again and I will not recommend your hotel to the many West Chester University parents that are always looking for hotels to stay overnight at. This was very poor customer service!
