My stay at Hyatt House Pittsburgh / Bloomfield / Shadyside was unexpected due to other hotel arrangements not working out. The staff were extremely helpful and fun! I appreciated their welcoming personalities and recommendations on places to eat and visit.
So many staff members helped us during our stay, from the Manager-Megan, to front desk staff-Carole & Trevor, and everyone else we met who made the stay better. Quality breakfasts, laundry services, the pool and gym were all great. Thank you! We will definitely return to the Hyatt House (which was our home when needed)!
During our stay at Hyatt House, we unfortunately had a negative experience with regards to the cleanliness of the facilities. We would not recommend this hotel and will not be staying here in the future. Though the staff was as helpful as possible, we were re-assigned rooms and were met with the same sub-par conditions. Our first room seemed to not have received a cleaning following the previous stay. The floor and surface areas were dirty, the floor was sticky with crumbs, dust and other debris. The couch had a significant blood stain on one of the cushions and upon further review we found additional staining all over. The front desk associates were helpful in getting us reassigned to a new room. Here, we were met with continued concerns on the cleanliness of the rooms. Though we certainly understand these rooms are typically for longer stays, we were really disappointed and would not recommend staying here. …
The hotel is beautiful and after a long day of travel there is a bar conveniently located in the lobby. The rooms are spacious and exceptionally clean, and the breakfast (included) is exactly what you would expect -- eggs, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, apples, oranges, bananas, waffles. There are even gluten-free protein bars available. We were a little disappointed hot coffee and hot water/tea are only available when the breakfast buffet is served (rather than 24/7) but that is understandable considering the rooms are suites with kitchens. Because Pittsburgh is not a city with streets in a grid, it is a wee bit tricky to locate the parking lot (hint -- it is on Liberty and not Baum). If you miss the parking lot you'll be traveling several extra minutes, which is fine unless you have a tired and grumpy spouse. Speaking of grumpy, we are pretty sure the front desk employees do not like one another; either that or they like one another very much and are in a contest to see how close they can get to being rude to the guests without actually appearing to be rude. If that is the case, the fine front desk employees at Shadyside have mastered the art form! Despite the perplexing behavior of the front desk staff, we will stay at this hotel again. The hotel is in a convenient location, the breakfast buffet is decent, and the rooms are perfect for week-long or long-weekend stays. …
I liked the modern, clean design. $20/day parking was reasonable. I'm glad they had a pool, but they seemed to have a class of kiddies learning to swim while I was trying to swim laps. Room had a bit of an antiseptic smell which didn't go away. I'm glad it was clean, but wish it smelled better. Also, A/C was too loud. The elevator dings were loud and scary.
The Hyatt Shadyside is excellent. There is a nice breakfast included. Easy walk to the center of Shadyside. It was a very comfortable room with nice amenities. The studio made staying there a joy. The staff was very accomidating
Stayed here for a week with family while conducting business in the area. Great hotel experience, clean rooms, very responsive staff, nice breakfast buffet with hot options. Pool was great and appreciated with kids. Overall great experience. I would stay here again!
Very clean hotel. We were in town for a medical appointment at UPMC. This hotel is very convenient to the hospital We drove over but it was a very easy walk. All the staff was helpful. I booked through the hotel rather than a company. I didn't find an ice bucket however I did task for one.
I am very happy to stay at this hotel during my recent trip to Pittsburgh. Room and hotel premises are very clean. During our stay, we interacted with staff at reception, breakfast & room service for various needs. They are always willing to help, very polite and friendly. There are lot of nice restaurants in walkable distance and there is ALDI in 5 min walkable distance. This is the perfect place to stay If you are visiting University of Pittsburgh.
Time to renovate the rooms. Stains all over the carpet and on the couch. Part of the couch and kitchen table were broken. Dresser drawers broken. Super noisy. Used to be my favorite place to stay in Pittsburgh but not anymore.
