The positive: The views. Too bad there aren't balconies. Best located hotel in town as far as views. Staff is friendly enough. Close to ball parks, Marketplace Square, walking distance to Duquesne Incline. Area a bit sketchy but other downtown hotels in same boat and without those views. Pet friendly, though they don't offer bowls or beds. Small pool and hot tub satisfactory; fitness center. The negative; Totally outdated. Seems to be a 70s refugee. Everything tatterdemalion, chipped, worn...earth tones ready for burial. Lack of amenities. No room service, shop (unless you call a few things in the lobby snack bar a shop). Happy hour advertised weekdays; no happy hours weekdays. Restaurant usually not open at least during our stay. Needs better cleaning, especially floors in rooms. Ice machines, elevators, front revolving door...what didn't break during our three days there? Shower slow draining (you will be taking a semi-bath when done) and shower curtain on a vaguely u-shaped bar so it slides down to the center. Useless. Floor wet; no bath mat provided; almost fell twice on soaked floor. Never saw anything like this shower curtain. Maybe not like this in all rooms. Seems bar was put in sideways - supposed to curve out, not down. Overpriced for what you get. We were lucky to get it at a reduced rate from a website (no Wyndham points, but we saved hundreds, so who cares?). We were there for my husband to meet up with a college group for ball games - they chose the hotel for the propinquity to PNC Field - and turns out they'd paid over twice as much for the same type of room. Big race that weekend and weddings so you may not be paying in the $400 range but if anything's up, you will be overpaying for the quality. In sum, not the worst place but not a hotel of "distinction" as Wyndham dubs its "grand" hotels. It's living on the views...you really can't beat those.…
I came to Pittsburgh for a 4-day conference. The conference rooms were comfortable and the staff does a great job of keeping up the hotel rooms. Perfect location on the Point for a great walk or for a good meal! I enjoyed the stay in Pittsburgh
I came to Pittsburgh to watch the Steelers game. Although we lost by a field goal, staying at the Wyndham made it all better. The staff at the registration desk were very helpful. They provided me with options to extend my stay and made my logistics easier to navigate. The valet service was extremely efficient. Even after the game there was hardly a wait. Everyone was very professional and courteous. I also appreciated the Starbucks in the lobby being open for extended hours during the weekend. The rooms were clean and quaint.
Great views, just wish they would vacuum floors between occupants. Top floor views of the park were unmatched. Could also see the Stadium and Fort Pitt Bridge. Fountain was cool too! I highly recommend, just be prepared for a dirty carpet in your room.
3 of us traveled to Pittsburgh for a concert and stayed one Friday night in a room with two queen beds. Hotel is in a great downtown location walking distance (20 minutes) to PNC park. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel definitely needs some upgrades. It was packed and we paid $478 including tax and valet. They had 4 weddings that night plus a big concert in town and other conventions it seemed. We thought the price was high but compared to the $700 rate at the Hyatt it was to be expected for a downtown location. The beds were very comfortable. We stayed on the 10 th floor and there was an odor of a sort of wet a/c. Not horrible but a bit unpleasant. You need your room key to access the elevator. Made us feel safer. Room was clean. Sliding door to bathroom was noisy and hard to close. Shower was poor, only warm water and did not drain. Service was a bit lacking, took 15 minutes to get our car from valet. No idea where you’d park without valet so we kind of had to pay the $38 for that. Check in/out staff were low talkers and not very friendly. We made the best of it but don’t expect great service at this hotel. No free breakfast but there is a restaurant onsite that we did not visit.…
This was a very enjoyable stay, It was a great place to go to our venue at PNC park. Check in was very easy and the staff was exceptional! The staff in all aspects were very helpful! We had an awesome time visiting the city!
This property needs areas refreshed and cleaned. I had to switch rooms initially as I first room had water stains all over the ceiling and smelled musty. Elevators are dark and dirty. Main lobby and bar area are okay. The conference staff was nice and did a nice job. I stayed for three nights and was told when I checked in that there would be no housekeeping service but if I need something just ask. This property clearly has seen better days. I would not choose this property if I head back to Pittsburgh
The location of this hotel is amazing - right on the Point in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. Walking distance from Market Square with lots of great food options. My only criticism is that this hotel is in need of renovation - both in the guest rooms and in public spaces. Elevators broke down between floors during my stay, wall paper was peeling off the walls and condensation issues in bathrooms, missing appliances in the rooms (large space where a mini fridge was supposed to be was strangely empty). I'd stay again, bit strongly encourage a renovation to attract more business.
Loved the location of this Wyndham, but the decor and everything inside is very dated. Air conditioner was hard to control. Either extremely cold or stuffy. Elevators very slow. And with large conferences, it makes it difficult to get up and down on breaks. Staff were nice and helpful. The bed mattresses definitely need to be replaced.
Everything in our room is damp and it smells like a broken sewer pipe. Hotel bar staff was great and the valet was very convenient on gameday but they do no make up for the odor in this hotel. I NEVER write reviews but the odor is so bad I would hate for people not to know.
