We just stayed over night , we had booked a caboose which I was very excited about until we got there , they are in need of repair and need updating inside and outside , it was a cold rainy day and there was a rather large gap in the door , so we decided to stay in there country...

Valued Guest, I am truly sorry that you were dissatisfied with your stay at the Red Caboose Motel. Please contact me as soon as possible so that I may learn the date of your stay and the initial room you stayed in so that I can be sure the gap in the door was repaired. Good for lunch after a train ride on the Strasburg Railroad. Stay the night and sleep in a caboose! In the heart of Amish country with protected farmland. Several historic places like the oldest turkey farm in the US. Stop at Cherry Hill Farm for more fun and adventure, or one of the shopping stops.

Despite the size being small, which is what you expect when staying in a caboose, the place was very badly renovated. The carpet wasn't tacked down and slid when you stepped on it. The shower was gross with what I can only think was mold in the caulking. One of the AC units was in the bathroom, weird, and the...

Dear SharonH22815, Thank you for staying at the Red Caboose Motel. I'm sorry that your experience left you with such a poor feeling about the property. Since purchasing the motel on February 1st of this year we've been working around the clock to improve all areas of the property as quickly as possible. Several rooms have new carpet and even...

We had an excellent stay at the Red Caboose Motel. The room was quite spacious for being a caboose, the restaurant was unique and delicious, the amenities were also unique with the petting zoo, the working model train in the store as well as movies in the barn and the observation Silo to overlook the area. The staff was also...

I stayed one night at The Red Caboose Motel in April to try it out and enjoyed it so much that I booked two nights in September for immediately after Labor Day. I was assigned to one half of the RF&P caboose as in April and it appeared that my room had been recently updated and repainted. Room was comfortable...

We stayed here for one night (I haven't been since I was 4) and it was really an adorable place. The lady working the front desk was very nice and super accommodating. My only complaint (and it wasn't that big of a deal) was that our caboose was next to the service area where the maids and such collect... and...

Dear Lindsay K, Thank you for coming back to stay with us! I'm glad you had a memorable experience. Each day we designate a caboose as a "show caboose" so that guests unfamiliar with the property can see what the inside of one of our cabooses look like. The room is cleaned prior to releasing it to the front desk...

Our caboose was the large family caboose Northern Pacific. We loved it..a little pricey for what you get but for a 1 night stay in a caboose instead of a typical room was neat. Definitely expected a quiet night in Amish country but instead it was Steam punk weekend at Strasburg RR so just outside our caboose in the field...

Dear Laura G, Thank you for staying aboard the Red Caboose Motel. I'm glad this was a memorable experience for you and your kids. That is exactly what we strive to accomplish with each and every guest. My apologies for the noise from the Strasburg Rail Road. We do keep earplugs at the Front Desk for the rare instances where...

A duel icon of a bygone era, both of the railroad and the American highway, the Red Caboose motel is a true survivor. Is it a big flashy corporate motel room? No! And therein is the charm. Don't be discouraged by the negative reviews. It's clean, comfortable, and staying here helps preserve a unique piece of American roadside culture. Plus...

Last night we took our 2 year old to Lancaster and stayed at the Red caboose. We had a large family caboose. 3 adults and 1 child. I'm not really sure where to start but ultimately it was a great adventure! Definitely more fun than I thought. My 2 year is obsessed with trains so the general area was PERFECT!...
