At the Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains, a number of guests have highlighted the fun atmosphere and range of activities, especially enjoying the water park. However, some visitors have criticized the rooms as unclean, outdated, and often cramped, with inconsistent experiences regarding room amenities. Service is frequently described as slow and disorganized, with staff members sometimes appearing indifferent. While the overall cleanliness receives some praise, issues with towel management have been noted. The location garners mixed reviews, and the value proposition is often questioned due to high prices for food and activities.

We took our 6 and 12 year old to this location for their birthdays, and I will start by saying the kids had a blast, so it served it's purpose in that aspect, but in my eyes, that's it! We are not new to great wolf lodge. This is our 3rd time (twice at the Massachusetts location) and if I have any say in the matter, it will be our last. To get started my wife informed me upon check in there is a new parking fee of $20 per night, but they don't ask you for any info on your car, nor do they give you a window tag or anything to prove that you are a guest. So you are paying over $300 a night and then they have to add on an erroneous parking fee that they don't even check!?!?! If we ever do go again, I'll simply tell them we were dropped off and that we aren't parking there, and park there anyways, with no parking fee, since they don't check anyways. The room service was average at best, we stayed for 3 nights and our room was only cleaned once. The Magicquest at this location is absolutely horrible. Every day we were there at least 3 to 5 of the touch screens were not working, and they don't do anything to rectify the issue until the system is shut down overnight. They tell you the game can take 4 to 6 hours to complete but it's more like 6 to 10 due to the constant waiting and having to find screens that actually work . Let's talk about their main attraction, the water park. To put it simply, we enjoyed it, it doesn't get overcrowded and that's to be expected but it is what it is. However, there are not enough tube's(especially double tubes) to go around for the tube slides, and trying to get one is a joke. We went to the park early one morning and they had all of the tubes stacked neatly in one of the outlets areas for the slides. I went to go get them and the lifeguard told me "you can't go over there! I have to call someone" so she blew her whistle several times and raised her fist in the air, and myself and at least 4 other guests stood there waiting for over 10 minutes and nothing happened, so at that point I said enough is enough and went on to do other activities. To add to this, the water park staff are miserable. It looked like every one of them hated their jobs/lives and didn't want to be there. I would say maybe 3 of the many lifeguards were pleasant and at least flashed a smile. I will reiterate that the kids had fun and that's what matters most but I can almost guarantee that you can go to a similar park ran by a different organization, spend alot less money, and have just as much fun. To summarize if you don't want to read everything I wrote.. don't waste your money, go somewhere else!

My family of four (kids ages 5 and 7) recently stayed at GWL Poconos. We were pretty disappointed with the quality/cleanliness of the rooms. They are in DIRE need of updates. Upon first walking in, it seems nice enough, then you slowly start to notice things like dust on all the fixtures and surfaces, the old furniture that has clearly been repurposed, the trim and flooring shoddily installed, other people's hair in the sink and shower, old/outdated plumbing fixtures, lamps hanging from literal strings, etc.; things you would absolutely not expect for the price you pay. A couple major safety issues as well; outlets falling out of walls, destroyed USB plugs, and one side of our sliding glass door to the balcony could be completely pushed outside the frame. As for the water park, it's pretty much what you can expect for a crowded, busy indoor water park. The problem is that their lodging has a much higher capacity than the water park. When you consider the fact that every person staying in the Lodge, Tower and Villas are likely all going to the same place at some point during the course of one day, plus the park is open for day passes, there are way, way too many people for this park. To be honest, the lines were not all that bad, but every pool was shoulder to shoulder, there was no place to find a seat for towels, shoes, etc. You couldn't even wade in the pool without someone splashing the highly chlorinated water in your face, eyes and mouth over and over again. One thing about the water park is that they do not hire enough staff to properly supervise/manage guests. It was basically a free for all. There were a few rides that required tubes only found in the lazy river. We had to go in the lazy river to find tubes to carry to the ride, it was a real effort just to get in line for a ride. And again, too many people, not enough tubes. Poor staff member /lifeguard Makayla was working TWO busy rides all by herself. It is 84 degrees in this facility (probably warmer with the thousands of bodies) the water is heated, and she was having to run back and forth to both slides to get people set up. She was there for hours. I was sweating just watching her. She maintained a great attitude through it all and deserves a raise. There were also not staff members/lifeguards at any of the attractions. Kids were skipping lines, climbing up the slides the wrong way, and nothing was enforced. Build a Bear was an absolute joke - no adoption certificate, workers were miserable. Overall, in my opinion, this place is highly overpriced and overrated.

Positive
We stayed in the new tower and the room was clean and spacious. The water park seemed well kept.

Negative
The hotel was sold out for MLK long weekend and it was a mad house. Too crowded, not enough seating space in the main areas.
If you are a family that prefers healthy food choices, even while traveling, you'll be disappointed. First we tried one of the restaurants, located to the right of the main entrance. I ordered French onion soup, which had no onions in it. Just a soaked bread and cheese on top. My husband left his food untouched. Since it's a restaurant and it wasn't cheap, we expected better quality.
For breakfast I ordered avocado toast from Hungry Wolf and I received something that looked nothing like what I ordered. I returned it and I am still waiting for my refund. Picture will be added.
Then we tried the buffet and it was okay, as compared to the other two. Ice-cream was good.
If you drink lattes, pre-order on the app between 7-10 am because the lines are long.
We spent nearly 1300$ for two nights, and we were shocked with the cheap quality of the food options. I expected that for this rate, there will be some quality standards and good mix of healthy and not so healthy options. I would not stay there again.

Our family (5 Adults, 3 teens, 4 kids and a baby) met here for a “health” celebration. We booked three rooms and had a lot of fun! We used the promotional code advertised and I feel like we got an amazing deal!

The grounds, main area, water park and our room were very clean. The second day we were there, we rented a cabana and we were very pleased with the privacy and our server Gabriel!

The first night we ate at Fireside restaurant. It was really late, there was an issue with our order getting in, but once it came, the food was very good. They handled the issue by giving us vouchers for the breakfast buffet...All around great customer service and friendly staff!

Highlights:
Rooms were cute, spacious and clean
Breakfast Buffet
Number of rides/activities in water park

Cons:
Cost of eating at resort

We are excited to book again!

We had a fantastic experience overall. We have stayed at the Niagara location twice and we feel that one night is enough since we have done everything before and you have so much time available in the water park. We really enjoyed this location more than Niagara.

The water park was clean and all rides were operational throughout our stay. The lifeguards were attentive, and all lines moved quickly. There is something for every age group.

We stayed in the new tower accommodation and found it clean and the vinyl flooring is a better alternative to hotel carpeting.

Our kids had the mid-level paw pass and aside from the Magiquest, you can do everything in about 2 hours. We did the arcade, bowling, mini golf, mirror and mining experience first thing in the morning and it is worth the value if you plan to take advantage of all the additional activities.

We only ate inside the water park and while expensive ($50), two kids meals and one adult meal did satisfy us until dinner.

The staff were all friendly and I felt their commitment to ensuring a positive experience.

My only negative is that there are not nearly enough luggage carts. Some people occupied some throughout their check-out day with their bags with no owner in sight all-day. Others were left abandoned in hallways with no assigned to collect them.

To start with, I've been on here for over a decade and rarely review a hotel less than 4 stars, so this isn't a sour grapes type thing. Put simply, we were overcharged by $60 and the waterpark and pool was way too crowded.

My family and I stayed at a Great Wolf in Kansas City last year on a trip and loved it, so when we wanted an overnight not too far with a waterpark we chose the Great Wolf in the Poconos. I wish we hadn't.

To start with, the towel charges. We returned all four towels - my husband first, then me and the kids before checkout. For some reason apparently only my husband's registered. I don't know if we were supposed to return all four at once, or if when I returned the last three, scanned my wristband, said, "returning three," and got a "thank you" in return, that somehow it didn't register or something. I only found out about the charges when checking my credit card statement. $60 for towels that we returned. I wrote to them as soon as I noticed, got an automated response saying I'd hear from them, and nada for almost a week now. I'm not holding my breath and I can't reverse the charges with my credit card company because I have no proof I returned them. If you go and stay overnight and use their towels, do yourself a favor and take a selfie of yourself returning them so you can dispute the charges. I wasn't going to return to this particular Great Wolf for other reasons, but now I won't go to any of them. With everything being automated and no response for improper charges, a guest could end up with hundreds of dollars of wrong charges and no way to get them off the bill.

The staff were great for the most part, the woman who checked us in was very helpful and nice and the lifeguards and workers in the water park were very attentive and always looking around for safety. The room was clean, although no microwave and the one in the hall was missing the glass plate part. Thus ends the good.

They let way too many people into the waterpark. With the long line of people at the day rate desk, this wasn't all guests of the hotel. The slides didn't have very long lines, but the wave pool, basketball pool, and outdoor pool were so crowded it was a matter of standing stock still in water so as not to bump into people. Not fun.

Also, and this isn't the hotel's fault, some of the people were not well behaved. Tons of little kids wandered around by themselves, cutting lines and pushing people. I've never seen line cutting like that before. We had to put our hands on the railings of one line to stop kids from cutting in front of us. Again, not fun.

The pizza was okay, typical waterpark/amusement park pizza, but the pasta was almost raw and uncooked. The Dunkin in the morning was fine, but again, everything computerized. I ordered at the kiosk no problem, but if you are traveling with grandparents, etc. know that you cannot order at the counter. Either you order at the kiosk, or nothing.

Our experience at great wolf was not up to par. Been there many times before with family but this was our first since there renovations and building of the villas and it will be our last. Check in process took 2.5 hours. Had 1 person on a Saturday checking people in. 1 person for kiosk help. Which kiosks weren't working correctly and 1 person for general questions. Also parking is terrible. Had to drive around in circles until someone left. As I said check in and parking took 2.5 hours. Ridiculous. After finally getting our bands for waterpark our room wasn't ready so we decided to hit the park. Had to change in changing areas and they were disgusting. Mud on floors, toilet paper everywhere and just unsanitary. We didn't bring towels so no we had to wait in another 20 min line to check out towels. $700 for a room and they make you wait to scan towels to your room so you don't steal these 50 cent towels. Oh yes and it's 20 min wait to return towels when you wanna bring back so you don't get charged. It is also very very overcrowded with all the new room additions. New fireside restaurant was good and room was nice but we won't be returning. Place seems to be run by kids who could care less when you need help or have a complaint. Its a shame cause my family use to love it here but not anymore. For the money you have to spend here I expect much more. Highly would recommend Kartrite over the "new greatvwolf"

I went with my grandkids. Not the same resort I visited with my children. Multiple disappointments. Took 40 minutes to check in because they could not find my reservation, even with my confirmation number. The food is really bad and overpriced. They cannot accommodate anyone with food issues-- diabetic, gluten free. They charged $127.20 for towels that were left in the room. It is IMPOSSIBLE to speak with anyone. Every phone number they give is answered somewhere else, not at the resort. The corporate phone is answered by a bot and no humans are available. I left my number for a return call 3 times, no return call. Overall, a bad experience.

1st, why would you let people smoke right in front of the main entrance, when this Great Wolf is mainly for kids.
You make more rooms for more guests and the water park is same size as when you first built it.
If the guests of the facility have absolutely no consideration for others, your staff should enforce certain base rules which were not.
I waited exactly 20 minutes for my iced macchiato at dunkin donuts. And when I got it, it was 4/5 milk and 1/5 espresso. If running dunkin donut is too much for Great Wolf, then you should rent it out to an independent owner.
Lastly, your water park towels need better laundry. Everything and all the time, when I wipe down my daughter with it, she ends up with dust bunnies. Yes! That much lint on the towels.
I've been going to Great Wolf for about a decade but I will never go back. Well at least not to the Poconos Great Wolf.
And parking fee??? Really? Why? Do people park at your facility and actually walk out to different business? No? Then you are targeting only the guests at your hotel. Then why don't you just raise the prices for the room?

There wasn't enough parking guests where just parking along the lanes blocking you to one lane to instead of the two. The check in kiosks didn't work but staff was friendly and ready to help. There was a lot of kid friendly activities and staff was always around cleaning. The rooms were great with such comfy beds and pillows. The pool area was cramped, very small walkways. A woman in a motorized chair was struggling to get around without falling in a pool area. There were not enough tables or just chairs for that matter. The coldest part of the water park was near the doors because it was a single set and Everytime they were opened heat escapes. That also would be were the toddler activities are. The youngest children are playing in the coldest area isn't the best design. Everything ( mega quest, build a bear, mining, food and drinks) was on the pricey side but while this isn't a very big resort there is more activity option than just a water park. The lobby had lots of fun kid focused free options if you don't mind how crowded it gets. Again the lobby being the only way to the water park and other activities area, it is a bad design to attract larger crowds blocking stair access is not the best design. I would come back for another sort vacation getaway though!
