This was a return visit for us to GWL. The last time we visited was before the world went crazy. While it was nice to get away for a couple days, their mask policy is as stupid as you can possibly imagine... and I'm saying this as a medical professional with years of experience in infectious diseases. They have a little "patrol" that wanders around and harasses kids, adults, etc, about wearing masks IN BETWEEN SIPS of a drink. No I'm not kidding. If you're wet from the water and are walking around, no problem. If you're standing in line right on top of each other, no problem. If you're smacking into everyone around you in the wave pool, no problem. But sitting alone 30 feet away from any other life form , well now that's incredibly dangerous and you're probably killing everyone around you with your germs. Utter ridiculousness. So we can all go about our normal lives in every other activity in an 84 degree humid waterpark and it's all good. But the moment we sit down and have a bottle of water as far away from humanity as possible, you're just risking everyone's life. I think they're afraid of liability - fine, I get it. But at least make your policies make sense. Also, if you do decide to go despite the above mentioned stupidity, get a room on the top floor. The ceilings and walls were thinner than the idiotic piece of cloth on your face. You'll hear every footstep and creak of the bed above you.

First day was reasonable, and I was able to have sympathy for them as a business fighting to stay open. We even managed to keep a mask on a 2 year old. But the second day they went CRAZY with the masks. Soaking wet? Wear a mask! Eating food? Wear a mask! But hey, some of you love this pretend science, so go for it! Because science tells us that sitting 12 feet away from other people spreads COVID, but standing in packed lines for a slide? No COVID! Because science. Next to strangers in a pool? Not a problem! COVID can't spread then, it's science! Sit low to the ground to tend to a child? You're spreading COVID! But walking past the same individual and breathing down on them is totally safe! COVID can't spread when you breathe down on someone, you have to breathe up. It's science guys. If you're part of this superstitious cult, go and have a ball! Otherwise, know what you're getting into. If you're actually trying to prevent COVID, more power to you, but this was just silly political theater. We bought less than half the food we were planning to the 2nd day and left early. Kids enjoyed the slides. Hotel room was not as clean as normal (old food on the floor).

Stayed here for an overnight stay with our granddaughter (10). We saw on their website that the stay was 50% off special! We paid $199.99 for the overnight stay and added the buffet breakfast and a late checkout, which added $47.97 and $59.96 for these add-ons. When we got the final folio, it added resort fees along with taxes. It brought the total stay to $366.47. I don't believe that I saw anything about resort fees anywhere, so when I expected to spend about $308.00 you can imagine my surprise. Lesson learned. The big draw is the pool area, which was quite nice, the room was big and spacious, however, there was not enough space to hand the towels for drying, and inside the shower/bathtub, there seemed to be mildew on the bottom half of the tile grout. There was no mildew on the upper half. I doubt that I will be staying here again, due to their deceptive price policy. The age group for this place would have to be for young children 10 and under. The only other things to do here other than the pool, is arcade games and a magical quest thing which is also extra cost above and beyond.

We spent just one night at GWL as part of the NJ Homeschool group. We arrived on a Wednesday and left on a Thursday. We were able to arrive early and use the facilities and stay and use the facilities until they closed the day we checked out. I found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful, including Willow, the virtual assistant that was very responsive over text. We found everyone to be wearing a mask, even the little ones as best the parents could control. They asked if you had a medical reason to be exempt from wearing a mask, and if you did, you got another color band to indicate this so as to avoid confrontation. They explained the mask rules (which you had to agree to several times prior to arrival and also during pre check-in). The facility not only had signs as reminders of their requirements but they also had hand sanitizing stations around the resort. The chairs in the swim area were grouped in threes and social distanced (with signs explaining). The chlorine levels were high but I felt better knowing they were going out of their way to keep things clean. The lifeguards were communicating and constantly rotating and working well together. We even had an incident where a lifeguard had to jump into the wave pool because of non-compliance to their repeated warnings. They explained that staff wouldn't come into your room during your stay for any reason because of the ongoing state-wide restrictions. Our room was well cleaned and seemingly maintained; we had a standard family suite, which included a mini fridge/freezer, single serve coffee machine and a surprisingly high-powered microwave. To me the lighting in the bathroom was dim and the room had an awkward layout but it wasn't a deal breaker. There were plenty of towels and you could text Willow or call the front desk and they would leave some out front of your door. The resort allows for onsite dining (where the buffet menu stays the same) but you are welcome to bring your own food and eat in your room. We didn't use all the opportunities the facility offered, but we have at previous stays. The lodge itself is seemingly isolated and we could see ski slopes from a nearby resort which added to the ambiance. As with any facility usage, there comes the uncontrolled aspect of people and how they conduct themselves. To me, this bears no reflection on the facility itself. It's a resort geared towards children and families with young families in higher attendance. People need to offer each other more grace than usual, especially when engaging in activities that this resort provides. I did find that some of the kids in the water part to be rude and pushing and disrespectful but that's on the parents, not on the facility. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and were happy to be a part of such a great opportunity.

We had spend 3 days at the location. At any entrance and through out of property are posters of safety for Covid19 posted. Especially how to wear face masks and where. First evening at story telling, we had people walking around FACE UNCOVERED. After I asked them to cover, they approached me and my family in fight ready. So I did asked front desk to intervene and enforce the given rules. Yes manger showed up and pulled them a side. but it was all. after that I felt like I did wrong. and at the and we left for our safety, So no story for child. And yes following days you could find time to time others not to follow simple rule. Yes and as some other posts say, these lodge is screaming for upgrades and maintenance. I believe these year all got hurt, but if you ask for big $, you need to provide class. If my daughter did not dream about GREAT WOLF LODGE, OTHER RESORT is around the corner. Back to masks, one I have to give to employees. Its hard to enforce rules, if you will be blamed for not being politically correct. Asking some guests to wear them. Thank you for making sanitizer and masks available to take all around resort.
