My husband and I were visiting Charleston for the weekend. We have been to Charleston many times but have never stayed at the Francis Marion Hotel. I always walked past it and thought how regal it looked. So I booked it for the weekend and got a great rate. Staff was great from the door men to the registration staff....

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 7 March 2017

The Hotel is a jewel located between the old and new of Charleston. Friendly staff, good accommodations and a return to the kind of experience finer hotels provided in the last century. Built in the 1920's provides the aura of a more refined earlier age.

The Francis Marion Hotel is truly a trip back in time. The old world charm can be seen right away in the lobby. Bog comfortable couches and chairs are placed throughout the lobby area, and a snack and drink table are set up for guest to enjoy throughout the day (albeit coffee in the am). The check in was slow,...

Stayed here during a conference and really enjoyed it. You can tell that this hotel is 90yrs old, but it is well kept. I enjoyed the room even if it is a little small. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Bathrooms are small but functional. Location is great for walking to the market or restaurants. Only thing I really did not...

we stayed at the Francis Marion because my husband was attending a conference there. I knew it would be quaint(old). The lobby is beautiful, the staff very friendly and helpful. Do not get a room on the main road if possible. It is soooo loud at night we were on the 7th floor and since the hotel is old all...

Well, I've had bigger rooms in Tokyo business hotels, but our "king" room had all the necessaries, as did the bathroom (which was a pretty tight squeeze, too). The hotel is due to shut down for a couple of years for a complete renovation, and none too soon. Maybe then the doors won't stick! The restaurant, which we only tried...

I actually stayed here October 2013, but I never wrote a review. Certainly remiss having not done so since this hotel was quite memorable. The lobby is gorgeous with the chandeliers. The room was nice, and the bed was very cozy. But what we remembered the most was the Swamp Fox restaurant in the lobby. We had shrimp and grits,...

The chandeliers are lovely (the lounge is the only good thing about this hotel). The restaurant is great. This is a 4 star restaurant. The hotel is not worth more than 2 stars. ************** They are not friendly to families. Rooms are tiny. They have either a queen bed or 2 full beds. But our room was advertised as for...

I'm sorry that we did not set appropriate expectations for your visit with your family, M. T. We do have a few different room options, and we always do our best to accommodate every guest. Our staff is selected for their hospitable nature and professionalism, so to hear your statement that our house keeping service is "uncivilized" is very unfortunate....

Want something, just ask. Front desk personnel are rapid and accurate. Bellhop service is superb. I enjoyed my stay and will return. Another great feature of this hotel is the location. Almost everywhere in the city is within a 30 minute walk.
