The Barksdale is a charming old B &B in a very convenient location in Charleston. The location served a wonderful breakfast with lots of healthy and filling choices. The staff is great, friendly and very helpful. The B & B itself could use a little TLC-peeling paint and wall paper. Rickety furniture. The beds are comfortable but require a climb up-hence the step stool.

What a great place to gather with friends! The staff were so inviting and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and accommodated our large party. Great made to order breakfast in the morning (included) and happy hour in the afternoon (includes one glass of wine). There is a nice back patio where we gathered and a parlour when we needed to be inside. Highly recommend!

This B & B is absolutely charming and beautiful. A real treasure. Beautiful location, very close to the downtown shopping district and an easy walk to lots of fantastic restaurants. The rooms are lovely. The hotel dates from the late 18th century, and was obviously redesigned in the 19th. Lots of charm and quaintness! Snacks, coffee, papers and breakfast all included. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. An excellent choice!

My husband and I stayed here for three days. It's very nice, clean. Now, this is a very old house, so don't expect perfection. Being a 300 yr old house has charm and you will find it there. Made to order breakfast and just a short walk to the restaurants and attractions. The staff is very nice and helpful. The bed was comfortable, and TV was very small. Other than that, a great stay.

The Barksdale is such a cute B&B. The house is old and has such character, while still being nice and clean. Our room was very spacious and had a comfortable king size bed. The breakfast is soo good! Definitely enjoyed having that and also having snacks/fresh water throughout the day was a nice touch. Very friendly staff as well. I did read previous reviews saying the ceilings were water stained and gross . We did have plenty of water stains on our ceiling but nothing that made the room feel dirty. It did not bother us in the slightest bit. In fact the bathroom and bedroom were very clean; the bathtub almost looked brand new. The only things that could have been better about our room (#5) is that the lighting in the bathroom is very dim and made it really hard to get ready. Also there is only a wardrobe for hanging clothes, and it’s not a full length. We were visiting for a wedding and unfortunately my long dresses couldn’t hang fully due to the size of the wardrobe. Just a thought on something that could be changed to make this place even better . Would definitely stay again! Loved it and perfect location!

We stayed in the annexe which was a nice old house at the back of the car park so less noisy. It was decorated suitably for its age so the bed wasn’t quite as large as a modern one and squeaked a bit but was otherwise very comfortable. More light in the bathroom would have been good. The breakfasts were super and having access to free cereal bars, fruit and hot drinks during the day was very welcome. The staff were very friendly too.

Conveniently situated to walk to most tourist sites. There is car parking at the rear. The bed room in the annex was large and comfortable The breakfast was excellent, as were all the staff. There was tea & coffee available all day in both the annex & main house. There were free fruit & snacks to pick up at any time

This is set in a great location in walking distance of Kings Street & Meeting Place, its a period property with the most amazing staff who go out of there way to look after you but sadly what let this hotel down for us was the state of the bedroom & bathroom, there was water stains on the bedroom ceiling & as for the bathroom it was not much better with paint & plaster coming off the ceiling, tired old towels & bed linen & considering what we paid it was so disappointing- I like period places but that is no reason to ensure a good standard of room with good attention to detail - old furniture is fine but please line the draws as they were very dirty for our clothes, four poster beds are fine but please have quality bed linen & pillows that are nice to sleep on and no gapping hole at the headboard , I would say think carefully if you are looking at staying here

Conveniently located in walking distance to downtown Charleston. We walked to a lot of things. The place could use some work but it was nice. All of the employees were very nice. The breakfast was amazing! We had a family right above us that were so loud at 11 at night. It sounded like they were moving furniture around.

100 stars! This place is the best of the best! Great location, parking in back, walkable to everything. Breakfast is incredible, it's not a continental breakfast it is a fully made to order served by staff to you breakfast! The rooms are awesome, quaint, charming, clean, comfortable, and so unique. Staff could not have nicer and more welcoming. There is not one negative thing I can say about this place. We were sad to leave !
