My husband and i stayed at the Cannon St annex for two nights. I would rate this a "good value" despite there being a few issues. For the time of year we visited, our room was $70/night and hotels in the area start at double that. We stayed in the Kingsolver room which was adequate for our needs. It was...

Going into a situation where you are paying $25-60 a night for a place to stay just outside of the downtown of a big city, it's obvious that you will not be living in luxury. However, some of the basic things that you may look for out of a place to stay are lacking. The rooms are small - even...

The location is great . . . near downtown historic Charleston, on the free trolley route, easy access to Hwy 17, and close to 2 good, vegetarian-friendly cafes (Four Loaves, Black Bean Co). The employees are super nice. We used the kitchen for storing our food in frig, snacking, and making breakfast.

LIKED IT A LOT! I stayed in NotSoHostel at the end of June 2012, in the Cyprus Room in the middle house. The bedroom, bathroom and kitchen were just lovely, BATHROOM was about twice as big as I have at home! :-) What I appreciated was big mirror in there - not everywhere! Overall very clean and simple and just...

The NotSo hostel is the perfect place to stay in Charleston. The room and common areas were very comfortable. The main house has two great porches, one upstairs and one downstairs, which make the perfect place to pop open a bottle of wine and share stories with other travelers from around the world. I met many new friends while I...

Awesome hostel, good value, the hostel is always spotless, bathrooms are nice and clean, good showers. Staff are really friendly and are happy to help you with anything! Good location, only a ten minute walk from town, definitely recommend it!

For the traditional traveler, arriving at the NotSo Hostel is a bit awkward, since the neighborhood is older and poorer. The Hostel is not new or fancy by any means (the rooms are small) but it's super clean, there are all kinds of confirmations of cleanliness and safety. Our night there was quiet, the other travelers amiable, the service great....

I've stayed in a decent amount of hostels, while studying abroad and traveling across western Europe. I think I would have enjoyed staying here if I were still in college. That being said, do not stay here if you're accustomed to being in a hotel, even a low-end hotel. The room was beyond tiny, which I was warned about, so...

What's up with the whining? The hostel is great! I'm reading some reviews about dirty conditions and I have no idea what they're talking about. The rooms are clean and charming. A bit smaller than they appear online, but it's no big deal. The parking lot is just fine. The staff are friendly, and the price is great (I couldn't...
