Stayed for a weekend visit. Great walkable location to many restaurants. The best part is to be able to walk out the door and be right in the middle of the Soda City Market on Saturday morning. Very clean and quiet with the exception of some sirens and car noise you get from staying downtown. Rooms seem to be newly renovated and are quite nicely appointed. Large screen TV. like the shower stall. But the reason I gave it a 4 and not 5 was when we arrived to check in there was no help. I don’t mind unloading myself, however there were no luggage carts and no one to even help locate any. We finally were told they only had three. Well the next day we found two of them hanging out on our 11th floor all day, no one attempted to return them downstairs so they could be used by other guests to load or unload. This was totally unacceptable. We stood out front probably 30 minutes and then decided to leave our car there and manage to carry items up to our room. The only person out front was the valet parking guy, and he couldn’t help. A hotel this large needs more luggage carts and a way to keep track of them. You can pay $25 a day to valet park or $14 to self park. Self park is very easy in the parking garage next door and there is a connecting walkway to it through the 2nd floor.

Christian checked us in & was very efficient, informative & friendly. Our room was attractive & very clean. The hotel is undergoing renovations but we weren’t bothered in any way. Due to staff shortages, getting breakfast was slow but the food was good & Kat & Gary made the wait pleasant. Great staff at this location.

Perfect stay for a busy football weekend ! Only problem is the parking - The lot is owned by the town and shared with an apt complex and two hotels . Getting out of the garage and repeatedly being charged was annoying! Other then that the hotel is in a great location and clean .

This is a large hotel with a few issues. A well known credit card company says that membership has its rewards. The Marriott credit card is not that one. As a platinum member I use my card enough to get some rewards but this hotel company is shrinking its rewards for members to miniscule levels. For instance, at this hotel the premiere member's lounge has a food and beverage benefit during the late afternoon and early evening hours. At the Columbia Marriott a single bottle of beer in the lounge runs the priveleged member $7. plus tax of about $1.50. $8.50 for a bottle of run of the mill beer is too much. Adding a few dried carrot sticks and some other nondescript munchies at no charge does not a benefit make. Why continue my membership when a hotel has enough latitude to make the point of achieving platinum (50 nights annually) worth little? Add to this no room upgrade available and a crime ridden area from which to venture forth . I can't see great value in staying here. Parking in the lot which is connected to the hotel via walkway attracted the attention of a local vagrant who requested cash. The largest homeless shelter in SC is located nearby so the hotel and its environs are an attractive spot for panhandling. The guest room was typical-fine for a few nights. Hot water was hard to summon though. I had to keep the tap open for several minutes before I could feel a bit of warmth. The television was larger than most -an appreciated amenity.

This is one of the worse Marriott experiences I’ve ever had. I booked my room through the Marriott Bonvoy app. I asked for a room upgrade and was confirmed the day of that I would get an upgrade. I arrive to find a standard room basically divided by a wall. Very small and the air wasn’t working properly. Had to call maintenance to open the sofa bed because it was zip tied. The toilet was cracked. I proceeded to go downstairs and talk to the manager and he tells me that they don’t have any suits at the hotel, I ask him what are the suites upstairs next to us and he proceeds to tell me those are reserved for people doing conventions those aren’t for regular customers. Not to mention the lobby flooded while we were there. The GM contacted me and was dismissive towards ALL of our concerns. He proceeded to give me the Covid story. So if this hotel treats their ambassador members this way just think how they might treat you. The hotel is a dump stay away.

Hotel was in need of a refresh. Floor was wet from AC, water from shower had an odor. Hotel was centrally located, staff was very nice and cordial. Food was good, food severs were over worked but were hustling and very good. Just the hotel is dated.

There’s a musky odor, the water temperature is set too high, The rooms above me were being remodeled so I heard hammering and drilling all day until 6:45 PM. The location is great, there are lots of restaurants within walking distance, and the bed was comfortable. My room had a mini fridge and typical Marriott TV. I ordered rib service the food and service were good. Parking was included however Internet is $8.95 if you’re not a Bonvoy member. After the remodeling is complete I’m hoping this hotel will be better rated and quiet

It was horrible. The bed leg was broke so the bed was literally tilted. The bathroom sink would not drain. There was construction going on and we were not informed about this ahead of time and when we got there after driving 9 hours we could not rest because of the noise. There was not enough staff for breakfast and I felt bad for the waitress. There was only one and they missed part of my order which took over 40 minutes. I tried to address with the front desk and the person was very rude. It was one of the worst hotels.

Surprised the quality was disappointing. Dirt and age was visible. Nice staff but you come to the hotel for a comfortable stay and this hotel needs a decor upgrade. Good location and pleasant area to walk around.

Pros - great location, friendly staff at check-in and the bar. Cons - it's apparent the rooms need major updates (which have just started). It was also apparent their maintenance staff are terrible! In our bathroom we had two issues - the water to the toilet would come on every hour, and the handles to the faucet were loose such that it was very hard (sometimes impossible) to stop the water from running. The toilet was particularly irritating as it would wake us up about every hour. Both are easy fixes. The next morning I called about these issues and was assured they'd be fixed within an hour. We were gone almost the entire day, and of course nothing had been done on our return. That night I used a clothes hanger to prevent the float from dropping (couldn't stop the water to the toilet because the valve didn't have a handle!). Restaurant - as mentioned elsewhere the restaurant for breakfast is terrible. When we arrived for breakfast there were only two other tables occupied. The staff saw us but ignored us for over 5 minutes. Finally one came by and said the buffet was $26. That is certainly expensive but after the wait I didn't trust for good service if we ordered something off the menu (which I'm not sure was even possible as it wasn't volunteered to us). We took the buffet. It was basic - eggs, fruit, yogurt etc.. nothing fancy. The eggs were the worst I have ever eaten - so hard you could cut them like a cake, and had a burnt taste to them. I couldn't eat them and told one of the staff about it. To give her credit she did go to the back room and they immediately replaced the eggs (which had been on the steam-table for almost 2 hours). The new eggs had already been cooked quite a while ago though, so they were just as hard (though didn't have the burnt taste)! They didn't know how to make coffee either - it was extremely watered down. The in-room coffee was slightly better. That night my wife went to the bar to get a cup of decaf - the bartender was nice enough to make it for her and it tasted fine. The LOUD maids also deserve comment - when they were cleaning they talked to one another in very loud voices. No way you could take a nap if you wanted to. If we were staying at a Motel 6 I would give a higher rating - but at $400/night (game weekend) I can only give 2 stars.
