It's a solid 3 star hotel. The lobby is great, staff at the front desk is great. Some things need improvement. The gym is great. Or room smelled like burning smoke. I told the front desk staff, and it's apparently an ongoing, know issue. All the hotel staff do is spray some air freshener and call it a day. If I were staying longer than 2 nights, it would have been unacceptable. Next, the house keeping staff blatantly ignore the "do not disturb" signs. We stayed two nights, and we had knocks on the door two days in a row when the sign was out. I'm not asking for folks to bend over backwards and have housekeeping make towel animals...I just don't want to be disturbed when I have that sign up. Next, the AC is very loud when it turns on. So among the room smelling like it was burning, the AC being very loud, and housekeeping knocking even when a do not disturb sign was up, it was hard to sleep at night or during the day. Not impossible, but not great. I stayed on points, but if I had been paying money, I would have felt much worse. There's only so much I can complain about when I'm not parting with any dollars.…
The hotel is actually really cool. There’s a lot of art and the staff is very pleasant! The room was clean and I was very happy during my stay. The bartender was outstanding! I don’t remember his name, but he was really cool! Make sure to ask him what his dogs name is lol
This hotel staff was very professional and super accommodating. We so appreciate their hospitality and kindness The room was ok. The bathroom design leaves a lot to be desired. No way for one person to use the sink or the toilet or the shower without distuubing the other in the room. Light switch lights ip all area and into bes room. The. Shower pressure was weak and the hair conditioner ran out of product. We stayed here because they accept pets. I would not stay at this price point at this hotel unless I had a pet.
Stayed here for a weekend visit to see the USC campus and spend time with my niece who is a senior at USC. Hotel was more than adequate and staff was amazing, most especially sweet Karen in the kitchen who made our breakfast...lovely, smiling, and helpful.
I can't speak highly enough of my experience at the Aloft Columbia Downtown. The concierge and reception staff were polite and helpful and the room was clean, spacious, comfortable and modern. The location was ideal for a short walk to nightlife but far enough away that you won't be kept up by partiers. Where they really excelled was their customer service. After checkout and a 4 hour drive home, I realized I had left my suit hung up in the closet of my hotel room. I called the hotel and they were kind enough to get my suit from the room and worked with me to mail it back to me swiftly and safely. They were patient, kind, and helpful every step of the way. Thank y'all so much for going above and beyond in your help. Not only will I stay at this Columbia hotel again, but will also look at Aloft in other cities as well.…
My husband and I have stayed here many times. It's a beautiful hotel with very nice amenities and a beautiful lobby. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Close to great food and things to do! There is a restaurant attached to the hotel but it's always closed during my stay.
This is the third city that I have stayed at Aloft in, and despite this location not having a pool, it is my favorite so far. Loved the location and the layout. Beautiful spacious bar, lounge/dinner/game area that includes 2 outdoor spaces. Chose not to use the valet or hotel parking that cost per day, was able to park on the street directly across from the hotel. Room was comfortable, clean and cool(air conditioner worked well). Loved the DryBar toiletries. Is within walking distance to many shops, bars and restaurants. Was able to walk to Bourbon Columbia in about 10 minutes. After returning to the hotel, the bar area was open, and was able to enjoy the patio and play a few games of pool while waiting for a food delivery. They even have a few board games. There is a large breakfast area with kitchen(that cooks to order items). And a lounge area with a TV. Did hear a little bit of noise from the room above, but not bad. Ice room was at the other end of the hall in it's own room. Have to use your room key to enter. Room does have a small fridge, room safe, iron and hair dryer. There is a restaurant attached to the back end, but did not visit. Look very nice though. Would definitely stay here again.…
Matt and Christian are amazing!! We had so many questions as this was our first time at Aloft. They were patient with us being so inquisitive and helped us figure out everything from having our pet stay with us to parking and so on. We think we've found our new favorite place to stay when we visit Columbia SC. We really feel at home and welcomed here and that means the world to us!!!
Overall great stay but Karen from the breakfast bar is what made my experience! She remembered my order modifications every morning without reminder and greeted me with a smile. Overall friendly staff, clean room, and great location downtown.
This is a nice hotel with great staff EXCEPT for the strange musty smell in the room; the staff has been very accommodating but both rooms that I have tried (2nd floor and 1st floor) have the same strange A/C-type smell which is quite noticeable. Other reviewers have noted the same problem. The silver lining is that the decor and location are great
