Do not stay here. We checked in for a one night stay. at 2:30 am the TV came on and someone tried to use a key to get into the room. Next thing we knew a front deck person used their master key to open the door (was stopped by the latch) and said "you should not be in this room, you are not authorized". I got dressed and went to the front deck and then the same front desk person said that she had determined that i was supposed to be in the room and that "I could go back to my room and have a good rest of the night". Totally dismissing me. I have contacted Marriott numerous times and have been told that the hotel is not accepting responsibility for the error and would not issue me a refund for the night. Did not get any sleep the rest of the night and I had a full day of work the next day.

First what I liked. Our room was really clean and the beds comfortable. BUT whoever made the decision to mount the pump bottles of shampoo conditioner and body wash at the end of the tub where the shower nozzle is mounted? They did not follow the rule "Be your own guest". Because they would have realized how inconvenient and awkward it is to reach through the shower spray and grope to find the correct bottle and hit the pump blindly with one hand and HOPE the other hand catches the product! Please please please move the wall mounted pump bottles to the opposite end of the tub and next time corporate has a 'bright idea', follow the 'be your own guest' rule to test it out. This was the only drawback and it is not a minor one.

Was able to use a coupon from Hotels.com that we picked up at welcome center. $69 U.S. Great deal. Great location, near highway and restaurants and gas. Lots of parking, safe area. We had a lovely woman check us in. Nov. 2, 2022. Gigi in the breakfast area was awesome. Breakfast was terrific. Lots of choices and nice place to sit.

We checked in, unloaded our luggage, and went to dinner. Upon returning, I went into the bathroom and discovered that there were only two towels for our family of 4. I picked up the phone to call the front desk, but the phone wasn’t working. Before trudging downstairs to report that and get more towels, I decided to set up the sofa bed for my children. Surprise, there was no bedding for it. So, I went downstairs, where a sullen and unapologetic employee gave me more towels and bedding, but told me she had no extra pillows for the sofa bed. So, my husband and I gave our kids two of our pillows and we all went to bed. Or not…because a loud and rowdy group of young people on our floor decided to make our hall their personal party zone. I went out and asked them to quiet down, to no avail. Then, they started playing loud music in the room next door. They did turn the music down when I asked, but at this point it was almost 11pm. We continued to be awoken by noise throughout the night. The hotel appeared to be very run down.

We had a comfortable, quiet room. However, the bathroom had no soap, shampoo or conditioner. The most surprising was no shower curtain. How would housekeeping not notice these things. We were brought the items which we were expected to install. I ended up installing the curtain and putting in the dispensers. Also, there was no juice, no fruit. There hot Jimmy Dean biscuits in plastic which were hard. They had obviously been microwaved and Added to the warmer. We are Marriott Gold members and have never seen this with another Marmot hotel. Friendly staff who kept apologizing but had failed to make sure rooms had the essentials.

Plainly said, this location, at least our room, was a dump. We were told the room was in a corner, it wasn't. The cover to the a/c unit was cracked, plastic broken out and permanently 'propped open' so the window coverings constantly moved. The room darkening shades did not fit the whole window so the glaring, horribly bright hotel lights (that were right out our window), shone in all night. We found garbage from a previous guest under the beds (so gross). The bathroom floor was sticky, towels were lacking in quantity and quality (we asked for more and they were thin). Bed linens are thin, but one bed had the required sheet, comforter and coverlet. One bed did not. WHY? Doesn't housekeeping notice this? Overall, a really disappointing, filthy-feeling stay. What's worse, this is the place we 'switched' to after our first Marriott choice had no hot water and NO working room keys since the 'system was being changed" - what a mess trip for a college visit to Columbia. As a high-level elite Bonvoy client, this was disgusting. For anyone to stay there, BOnvoy or not, it's disgusting. Just find another property. I will reach out to Marriott direct too.

It pains me to see this Marriott property not live up to the great brand. During U of South Carolina college graduation weekend, rates were super inflated. We saw the negative reviews but decided to “take a chance”. After all, we’ve always enjoyed our stays at Fairfield Inn. First the positive: good location. Lots of restaurants nearby. Close to interstate. Clean room. Nice friendly ladies in the morning. The areas ready for improvement: afternoon front desk reception check in - the gentleman had absolutely no interest in customer service. He interacted with two groups before us. Same treatment. No smile, no friendly greeting. He didn’t want to be bothered. He gestured at things, like we’re annoying him. The worst DMV experience I’ve had was better than this “anti reception” When we stayed, there’s a selection of packaged pastries. Breakfast sandwiches you have to microwave yourself. The bread with the sandwich was so bad, chose not to eat one the following morning. Chose the oatmeal and yogurt instead. At least the coffee was decent. I guess that’s better than the bagged breakfast other reviewers stated.

When we arrived: TV not working; light bulb out in bed light; TV fixed next day, no do not disturb hanging card included, no room service done at all; complaint the next day resulted in clean towels, toilet paper added, bed made. Breakfast: first day coffee okay, packaged food offerings terrible, no tables washed or wiped between diners; second day - terrible! None of the 3 coffee pots had coffee, I complained at the desk by interrupting the personal conversation of the desk clerk and the kitchen worker. After a few minutes she returned to the dining room and looked, slowly, into each of the 3 pots; she then removed them and went out of the area. After a few minutes she returned with one pot. There were a number of people awaiting that delivery and the pot was emptied immediately. The other two pots were nowhere to be seen. I complained to desk, asked for the manager, and was told he’d be back on Monday! The missing pots returned but all were emptied immediately by the people who were very angry and speaking among themselves. After 25 minutes, we gave up watching the circus we’d been observing. Needless to say, Marriott will never see our $$ again!

No hot breakfast as expected. This is really unfair for families who count on feeding their children prior to departure. Room was clean, but average. Could use a refresh. Pump bottles in the shower not convenient to use, placed in the most awkward location right under the shower head on the wall. Bed mattress needed replacing, lumpy and saggy. So, what's up Marriott? Other hotels in the area are offering free breakfast, and not a cold bag of yogurt! I won't be staying here again as I travel for business or otherwise.

I’m guessing there are staffing issues. There’s NO hot breakfast - you have to go to the front desk to get a paper bag with yogurt, oj, and fruit cup. Packaged muffins and coffee were self serve. But there were no signs and no warning in the reservation that this was the only option. I would not have booked there if I’d known and feel like we didn’t get what we paid for. We are on a 16 hour road trip and wanted to start the day with a hot breakfast. The 4 th floor is under renovation as well… doesn’t affect the rooms - just the halls that I could see, but during the week I’m guessing there’d be work going on. The beds were clean and comfortable, but shower curtain is old and stained; floors had trash here and there; phone didn’t work at all (found out when I tried to call the desk to report people arguing loudly in the hallway at 3am); and someone had smoked since the bathroom reeked of smoke. I will say that Justice at the desk was very busy all by himself at 8pm check in but quietly friendly; Matt (maintenance) came and sprayed the bathroom (although it didn’t last). I think the bathroom will need to be scrubbed from floor to ceiling to get the stench away (burn marks on toilet too). So frustrated at inconsiderate people!! The woman at the desk in the morning must have gotten an earful - I don’t fault them for noisy guests. Expected much better from Marriott.
