This was a road trip stop. I was pleasantly surprised to find a room with 2 king beds instead of 2 of us needing to cram into the not quite queen size beds in most hotels or someone suffering on a sleep sofa. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. There was some road noise and the old school window A/C was what you'd expect. Not bad for a stop.
! We have stayed at many holiday inns in several states. We are 2 TWO people who choose 2 TWO beds and need 2 TWO chairs to sit and relax after a long day. This hotel has only a desk chair in the rooms with 2 beds. The beds are at least 3.5 feet off the floor (seriously! I am 5'3" and the mattress top is at my waist) so there is no way I can comfortably sit on it. We booked this room for 2 adults. When I asked at the front desk I was told that's how the rooms are. They certainly are not like this in other Holiday inn express we have frequented. We certainly will not be using them again and will spread the word around about this one.
After having a bad experience with an online booking site that I thought was a government site that turned out to be a third party of a third party. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! Anyway we were charged with them and with the hotel when arriving. So I called a few weeks later to try and get a refund but the lady I spoke to was not hearing it and hung up on me.. Wow is all I can say! So I waited and called back a few weeks later after recovering from that traumatic experience. When I called this time I spoke to Ray and he was by far thee most pleasant and helpful person. He researched and found the problem and just like that, he processed the refund to be placed back on my credit card in 3 to 5 days. If that lady took time to research like Ray maybe she wouldn't have gotten frustrated and hung up on me. The hotel was clean and inviting and because of Ray I'll stay again. Need more patient people like him. THANK YOU RAY!!…
The 1st room that I was given had a moldy, sour smell so bad that my eyes and nose started burning. Not to mention the room looked more like an old motel. I was moved to the 1st floor. It smelled much better but there is no desk or desk chair. The room was a downgrade from the 1st room. However it was already a downgrade from my previous experience and expectations of Holiday Inn Express. Oh well I'll know next time; not this location! This was totally not what I expect from Holiday Inn Express - this is borderline rinky dink! I got up to use the bathroom and a brown roach was crawling up the wall. SMH not at all what I expected. Besides I paid $139 not $80 so I definitely was expecting way better
The HI Express Columbia I-20 at Clemson Frontage road was adequate. At $90 it was worth what we paid for it. I am glad we did not pay more. Positives: it was a fine, big room and it was clean. They are very serious about Covid prevention and the public areas are clean too. The bed was very comfortable and the HVAC worked. Negatives: The hand-shower rack was wobbly. They don't provide individual bottles of shampoo and conditioner, which is unsanitary, especially in these times of Covid, opting instead for large dispenser bottles. They provide cheap toilet paper and our room had very little on the roll and only one spare. There were only two sets of towels. A sign in the room explained that this was because of Covid and that extra towels and rolls would be provided by the desk upon request, and indeed they were. Presumably again because of Covid, guests staying more than one day were placing their used towels and trash cans in the hall for pickup, which was ugly to walk past in the morning. Breakfast was a full breakfast, which was appreciated, and it was served by an attendant. It was all of --adequate -- quality, however. Reconstituted powdered egg, pre-made and frozen sausages (very dry). They did have Quaker instant oatmeal and I believe the attendant would have made me one of her signature pancakes upon request. All in all, it was, as I said above, adequate.…
Maybe a notch above Econo Lodge. Shower Head loose falling out from the wall. Tv smallest I have seen in hotel in several years. But worst Breakfast ever for a HIX. All they had was a togo bag with muffin, banana wate and granola bar. Nothing Hot !!No OJ !! NO cereal!!! No Milk!!! It is a Joke
Nice hotel. Not the newest but it’s clean and comfy. Good mattresses and lots of towels. Nice shower door instead of curtain too! Every one working there was very nice and helpful too. Good breakfast in the morning. Easy access from the interstate.
The Hotel is in good location ( near the highway) but there are things that can get better , for example they don't have warm cofee availlable during the day , no laundry service availlable . The price is quite ok not expensive but they must give some additional service ( coffe at the most)
We stayed here two nights so we could be close for my brother's basic training graduation and family day at Fort Jackson. The rooms were perfectly clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good. They had a few hot options like bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and eggs as well as some cold options like muffins and bagels. Not bad for a free option. The staff was very pleasant each time we interacted with them. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
This hotel is clean everyone was very friendly. Would give a 5 but Management has a big issue with the breakfast department. Everything from ordering to having people to run it. The manager of the cleaning staff did a great job, but without the food and right supplies her hands are tied. So without proper tools and equipment I say the employees do a good job for the owner SHAME on you.
