We had two rentals for our multiple families visiting Fripp Island for a week. One rental was on the marsh and the other was near the beach. It was an interesting week. Plenty of deer to see and we happened to be there when sea turtles were hatching and turtle nests were being checked. This was a unique experience for...

We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you so much for taking the time to give us a review! We did want to briefly shed a little light on our snake sighting. Fripp Island is home to many snake species, but not any type of boa. The most common species are harmless and very helpful, like the yellow...

Loved spending time this summer on this private island. Lots of golf carts, plenty of beaches (most of which are deserted early in the morning). Loved seeing the sea turtle nests (I did not touch!) and tons of shells to collect. This is a great place to relax and spend quality time with the family.

Dawn, Thank you so much for your sweet words! We're glad that you had the opportunity to be here during our sea turtle nesting season. It's such a special time of the year! We hope that you'll come visit us again soon.

We visited Fripp Island for the first time in August 2015 by renting a house from an owner. I hope I'm placing this review in the right spot because we did not stay at a "resort", just a house. I wanted to include some information for first timers although I'm sure the reviews here spell everything out. It was our...

Ken, Thank you for your thorough and thoughtful review of our Island! We find that a lot of people bring up the question that you raised about our guest cards. Essentially, all of our amenities are owned by the Fripp Island Club, which is a private club that can only be joined by property owners on Fripp Island. The guest...

We spent a week on Fripp Island as our annual family trip (12 of us). We rented a large house that would accommodate us. Our rental house was very nice and roomy. Our issue was the property management. We arrived on a Saturday about an hour after their check-in time. The cleaning staff was still in the house cleaning. We...

Annabelle, I am sorry to hear that your experience with us was a negative one! One of the things that makes Fripp a unique place to visit is the fact that all of our homes are actually privately owned and then rented through the resort. This gives our homeowners the opportunity to exercise creative control over the personalization of their...

So sorry you had such a bad experience at Fripp! But, don't give up on it! It's not all like that ! We have been coming here periodically since the late eighties and have always had a good experience! We are actually just leaving tomorrow! We have rented large houses and condos without the issues you had to deal with,...

We just returned from a week long family reunion at Fripp Island. The island provides a unique experience of beach and wildlife opportunities. The amenities were fine but not up to standards I'd expect when the word "resort" is being used. Signage of island venues were missing letters and repairs needed to be made overall. The island was clean. The...

Thank you so much for your input. We are working continually with our homeowners to improve the quality of all of our vacation rentals and we place a very high value on the opinions of our renters. We came to Fripp Island for a family reunion. The family reunion part of our trip was wonderful. The accommodations however for our immediate family were horrible. Fripp Island was our family summer beach vacation for years. As we've been traveling out of the country, we hadn't stayed at Fripp for the past five years until my brother rented a house on the golf course at Bonita Point. Sally, We certainly did have a very busy summer this year! If you prefer things a little quieter, we hope you'll come visit us in the spring or fall. In fact, the water stays warm enough for a swim all the way through October! We're glad to hear that you love Beaufort. We love it too!

First of all let me just say Fripp is the most amazing beach I've ever been too. The beaches aren't crowded at all and having a golf cart to ride around on the whole time made it all the better! My family and I have been visiting Fripp for the past few years now! I will say, it's very beautiful!...

My dad retired from the Marines and I grew up in the area for some years but I always go back every summer to Fripp Island and Beaufort both places are layed back and beautiful. However it is a little drive to Parris Island around 30 min. If you were staying several days then it would be worth it staying at Fripp because the hotels fill up fast. I don't know when his graduation is but you may want to check Bed and Breakfast or hotels in Port Royal if there is any available.

We were there in mid-June. The beach accesses that were closed were due to erosion, not alligators. I'm not sure if the Captain John Fripp properties are affected, but think they are. What they had done is made walkways over the marshy land to get to the beach, so you can still get to the beaches. I have never seen an alligator near the oceans there, only in the marshy areas and ponds.

Oceanfront would be on Marlin, Tarpon or some of the beach access roads like Flying Fish. John Fripp villas are oceanfront and very close to the beach club pool. The beach in the Ocean Point area where the New Haven condos are is rocky and low tide only. We normally stay in the Ocean Point area where you have ocean views and take the golf cart to the beach.

The resort is houses, condos, several pools, golf courses, restaurants, etc.

Look at the Fripp Island Resort website it will give you a good description and rating of the properties available. Keep in mind everyone over 12 must have an amenity card to use the pools and go to the pools and restaurants. They are $50 each. If you rent through the resort they are included. Also most of the rentals include a golf cart. The houses in the Veranda Beach area normally have a view of the pool complex (the largest and best for kids) and the ocean. From there you can walk to the pools and the activity center.

Most of the beach is very nice to play on especially in the center, the beach club area or the accesses down from it. The golf carts are a must for gettng around on the island so it really doesn't matter where you stay.

Closest real (and good) grocery store is Publix, in Beaufort. Most of the time we plan ahead and buy most all groceries during one or two trips into Beaufort.
