It was only due to the fact that our B&B in Charleston was fully booked on our last night of the vacation that we needed to find alternative digs for the night. We wanted to experience the traditional 'southern plantation' vibe and after a fair bit of online research stumbled across Mansfield Plantation. Quite frankly the photos and website for...

Mansfield Plantation is a wonderful location to enjoy a peaceful, quiet getaway. While staying at the plantation one can't help reminisce about the history of the property that dates back nearly three hundred years. The dikes that used to hold back water for rice production and the slave village and unmarked slave cemetery all have stories to tell. Relaxing under...

This is almost beyond description, giant oak trees, Spanish moss, the over 1 mile long tree and moss covered entrance to the plantation house, comfortable rooms, and a wonderful host, Kathryn, who makes the most amazing breakfasts every morning. I especially like the quiet of the place, its just incredible to sit on the swing and listen to the birds,...

If you are looking to hit the reset button on your brain and really escape the modern world, book yourself a weekend at this fabulous plantation. From the moment you arrive, Kathryn makes you feel welcome. The extra special high-appointed touches like 500+ thread count sheets, a flashlight by your bed (for late night wandering) and fresh squeezed orange juice...

Mansfield is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. I could have spent our entire 4 days there laying in a hammock watching herrons fly over and fish jump from the water. It is set just a couple of miles outside of downtown Georgetown. A perfect getaway. The service was impecable. There were even a couple of really wonderful fluffy puppies on the...

The mile and three quarter drive from the main road to the plantation gave us no clue as to the beauty we were about to experience. At the end of the road was the plantation house surrounded by a large expanse of green lawn. We parked under the big oak trees and rang the door bell. We were welcomed by...

The small sign where we turned off the main road gave us no clue about the spectacular driveway that leads to this plantation. We drove along a rutted road for about a mile and a half before we came to the main gateway. Then we just stopped as the view with all the spanish moss arching over the road was...
