The hotel is old. No elevator. While it is clean and comfortable it does have a dated feel. Just little things broken blow dryer, dated look etc. it is a good hotel with nothing spectacular. The location is great being close to Coligny beach and the main road.
We went to Hilton Head for a timeshare presentation by Spinnaker. We didn't know which hotel they were sending us to until just before the trip, and after seeing the reviews for SR Hotel, I was prepared for something worse than some of the hotels we have stayed in in third world countries. Instead, we had a very nice, clean room with comfortable beds, air conditioning and heating (we needed both) which worked properly, and towels much better than those we have had in hotels like Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express. There are no elevators, but I chose a second-floor room because I don't like people marching around over my head, but we had no noise from neighbors anywhere. The hall did smell of disinfectant, as other reviewers have noted, but our room didn't. We did have a couple of problems. The bathtub drain backed up and drained very slowly, so when I took a shower, my feet got a bath. The sink had a similar problem, but it generally cleared on its own. It was also uncertain whether there is wifi. We were not given a number at checkin, and our phones had problems connecting to the internet. We generally had to go onto the balcony to get a connection. Overall, though, our stay was pretty good.…
This place is a total $hit show. Got in yesterday and the chemical smell through out the halls and room was intolerable. I called to complain and the front desk was very nonchalant and offered me some air freshener and I had to call back to even get that. My sister and I went to eat and our food tasted like the chemical like a metal taste in our mouths. We end up going to Walmart to purchase a ionizer and vinegar to put in the room because there was nothing else available that late in the evening. I went to the timeshare presentation and was asked how I was and I informed them what happened and presented my receipts and said I want my money back for the ionizer and my meal that didn't stay down. The rep said they don't own that resort they just lease the 2 bldgs A and B and their lease is almost up and they have been trying to reach the owners to no avail. Sounds like total BS to me!!!!!! I've been in Property Management since 1987 and the chemical was used to hide something. They are trying to cover up mold, water or something but it's very inconsiderate of people with allergies and respiratory issues. The flooring is lifting as well which also let me know it was a water issue. HORRIBLE experience and the resort need A TOTAL UPDATE AND REHAB. …
The customer service was amazing!!!! Our room was high quality for the price. The pools are nice and spacious. The island is well worth the trip. Lots of fun things to do for families. We really enjoyed the lighthouse.
DO NOT STAY HERE! Gross, disgusting, old, moldy, and DISHONEST! Went with friends so they could hear the nonsense timeshare sales talk. They complained to the sales person who LIED and said Spinnaker has nothing to do with the S. R. Hotel! He continue to lie and say an outside marketing firm puts guests in various hotels. So stupid! It literally says, “Spinnaker Resorts” on the door and all signage. Our room was disturbing. A black shirt left behind the nightstand (in a pile of dust), blood stains on the pillow cases, the underside of the comforter had old poop stains!! The faucet was full of crud. The pool had black mold!!
This hotel is a nightmare come true, mold and mildew kept us from breathing, the ceiling tiles falling down in the bathroom was scary but the pubic hairs all over the bathroom floor put us over the edge. The holes in the floor were covered by their new vinyl tiles, however, they did not keep us from triping like they hoped. When we went to the visitor center, they actually told me I was crazy and that this was a great place to stay. Save yourself and just don't do it!
The only reason I’m even giving it one star is because the beds were comfortable. No elevators in the building. You had to carry all your suitcases, coolers and everything up two flights of stairs! The floor was filthy in the room. I had to keep a towel by the bed to wipe my feet so it wouldn’t dirty the bed. Tv was awful, very few stations to choose from. The building/rooms were extremely outdated and literally falling part. I killed a spider in the bed. I would NEVER stay here again!! Oh, and all rooms have a view of a parking lot.
The hotel is really old and the infrastructure, smell and amenities are all from the 50s. The pool is the only good attribute. Other than that its just a place to lay your head at night after long beach and touring days. There are no handicap accommodations at the hotel. Housekeeping staff is lackluster, however, that could be a remnant of staffing issues amidst the remnants of COVID so this may improve over time. The coffee package they leave in the rooms for guest was old, the creamer was brown in the package (should have been white). They only bring towels every other day. My stay here was part of a Hilton timeshare promotion as I wouldn't have picked this place on my own based on the reviews. My experience with the hotel proved the bad reviews to be mostly correct. I wouldn't recommend to those paying standard rates and this definitely didn't entice us to want to purchase a Hilton resort timeshare.…
The place in hallway before entering the room was a loud smell. The rooms also! you can tell they have a loud minted smell trying to cover up real smell. They place you hear if you are a guest coming for a time share. And they hit you went rules of your stay knowing this S & R has had mold and mildew issues that they cover up. Please be prepare in advance they will tell you oh I stayed here before and didn't have any issues! They talking about a different location.
Their idea of a handicap room is one on the first floor. We had to take one of the beds apart because it was too high for my husband We were there for 3 nights but had to go back to the lobby to get coffee for more than one morning. There was a bathtub/shower with nothing to hold on to. The LITTLE patio had nothing on it - no room. Just a standard room that needs serious upgrading.
