We have stayed at Sonesta multiple times. This vacation we booked a corner suite, and the sofa, when pulled out, was broke. The bed sat on a 45 degree angle. I phoned the front desk and was told they could provide us with a rollaway bed. Not realizing the rollaway bed was a twin as opposed to a full size (which the sofa bed was) there was an issue with fitting two kids on the rollaway. I phoned the front desk again and spoke with Vanessa, the evening manager. She was entirely unprofessional telling me there was nothing she could do. I stressed to her how we paid extra for the corner suite which included a king bed and full pullout. Bottom line was, I was not getting what I paid for. At one point in the conversation she told me she could not "deal with this" right now. Unfortunately for Sonesta, Vanessa is a poor representation. She displayed an inability to handle our situation. She did not work to seek a resolution. She was short tempered, and most importantly she made me decide to never book with Sonesta again after being long time loyal Sonesta guests. Therefore being that I booked this stay through a third party, I phoned them. The third party phoned Sonesta and spoke with Vanessa. She advised them that I could check out the following day but I would be charged for that night's stay. For reference, this was our first night of six booked at Sonesta. Naturally, there was no other hotel with a room comparable to what we had booked with Sonesta. I made sure with our third party that this check out was just an option, and the third party assured me it was. However, the next day I receive a phone call from Austin, the manager inquiring why we had not checked out! I was in disbelief. I reiterated to Austin everything stated here thus far. Austin was completely professional. He understood this was our vacation, and he did everything in his power to make things right. I was so thankful for Austin. He salvaged our stay which was a big one for us since we were celebrating a milestone birthday. Nowadays hotels should be meticulously selective about who they hire and promote to management. After all, it is the hospitality business, and if you can't be hospitable, like Vanessa, you're in the wrong field. I can only hope Sonesta works to retrain or demote Vanessa for such poor behavior. …

So relaxing! Everything was so clean and kept immaculate and tidy. Our room was spotless and our needs were well-provided for even though housekeeping was not entering the rooms daily. The pillows were the best I’ve ever had at a hotel: big and soft and fluffy and comfortable. The sheets were good and the bed was so comfortable. The rooms while not entirely soundproof, we’re still very quiet. The gift shop was absolutely packed with merchandise, everything you would need. And we enjoyed a delicious breakfast one morning in the restaurant. All the employees who served us were lovely, personable, and masked full-time. The wide beach was esp nice. Sonesta was a good choice for us!

This is a nice hotel but seemed more like 3 rather than 4 stars based on the accommodations. The views were subpar in that the trees blocked everything unless you went out on the balcony. The adult only pool was simply sad. Not welcoming at all. It was under a concrete structure so no sun exposure at all. The youth pool was nice but not very big; it was not too crowded while we were there. We had a king room that was just ok. Too small for my tastes. The one thing this hotel did have was the service! It was 5 stars!! Some of the friendliest and helpful staff I have ever experienced. If not for the staff, I would have given 2 stars.

Large resort sits next to Atlantic Ocean with pool and bike rentals. It is a complete resort with spa, pool, restaurants, pool bar, turtle pond and beach access with chairs and umbrellas. Hard to beat its location and facilities in the charming Shipmaster Village.

I would give this a 3 and a half stars Pros: the room was a great size the location of the resort was wonderful- can't complain at the beach Cons: Our room view was of a rooftop- still we were a quick walk from the beach The weekend night we were there they had 3 different events going on and not enough staff to cover them and the rest of the hotel guests. We went to the onsite restaurant to eat and had to ask the hostess to get us a waiter after being seated but not greeted by anyone for 20 minutes. The restaurant service was painfully slow, although the wait staff was very friendly. The food was overpriced and mediocre -we wished we'd gone to a restaurant off site. I loved the location of this place but we must've come on a bad night.

Located a short pathway away from a pristine portion of beach. The main pool was clean and had a bunch of floats and beach balls for guests to share. The food was good - the blackened mahi at the poolside cafe was excellent. We were given a pet friendly room (did not travel with pets) and it had a distinct mustyness to it- as did the bathroom. I had to move a couch around to make space for a pack and play and saw a couple of bugs I had to deal with. We requested for a non pet room and they were very nice about it over the phone and told me to go to the front desk the next morning and it would be arranged. So I did, but the person in charge had not arrived yet. I left a second message with my mobile number ,room number and name. I didn't receive a call or a note to the room or any form of acknowledgement from them. We decided to just stay put and deal with the smell but would have preferred a switch for sure. The hotel is around 15 mins away from Salty dog and likewise another 15 from Old Oyster factory so it's very well located. …

Pros: Grounds are pretty Proximity to the beach Clean Lots of sitting and gathering areas to visit Cons: Not within walking distance to anything One relatively small, busy pool Really disappointed in the general lack of customer service, many employees even rude - most all in the coffee area or food service/bar/restaurant area. Appeared to be very understaffed in their defense. For the money spent staying here, it was disappointing.

Disappointing. Staff is nice and rooms are clean. But even Hampton Inns give free coffee and continental breakfast. And free water! For the price paid here there is NONE of that. You even have to pay a rental fee for beach chairs

Great bed. Great AC in the room. Wonderful poolside bar with yummy drinks. Staff is friendly and location is great. You need a car in HHI. Ubers are unreliable. Bikes are good but they are well, bikes.
