Checked in at reception and was told the room wouldn't be ready for 30 minutes or so. When we got to the room it had a very heavy smell of industrial cleaning products. After taking off my shoes, I discovered the origin of the cleaning smell. The carpet had obviously just been shampooed and was still wet. All three carpeted rooms, spare bedroom, master bedroom and living room were still wet. I went back to the front desk to explain the problem, and was told there were no other rooms available. They did offer to put an industrial fan in the room to help dry out the carpet. My wife and I went out for a couple of hours as the smell was pretty heavy. Unfortunately when we came back there was no change. Around 9 in the evening, someone came to the room and said that they needed to take the fan away. Overall a pretty terrible stay and an incredibly poor effort of the part of the Marriott to sort the problem. …

So... A disclaimer: We are owners here for 20+ years and come back every year. Marriott has never failed to impress us with this property. It is a quiet oasis in an otherwise hectic life. A touchpoint in our year. The grounds and the gardens are lavish and lovely. The pool is a hub of activity. Our kids (and now our grandkids) grew up there, They learned to swim there. rode bikes, played tennis, built sand castles. Made memories. I am sometimes reluctant to write a nice review for a stay (since I don't want the hotel to get too busy..) but since I own here and have the same week every year I can write this without hesitation. Stay here if you can. Bring a swimsuit and flipflops.. you will need them. In some properties, you feel like you are packed in like rats but not here. Somehow they make it feel secluded and special.…

This 2 Bedroom garden view unit was recently updated with very stylish furniture. The balcony was perfect for lounging and dining. A very short 2 minute walk to a beautiful wide beach. Different activities offered such as wine glass painting, story telling & magic display, and wine & cheese gathering at the gazebo. Some activities had a nominal charge. We had dinner reservations and gold tee times made during our 4 night stay that worked out perfectly. Staff was very nice and friendly as you would expect in SC! Will definitely stay here again. All the restaurants in Sea Pines were wonderful.

A great family resort.. Plenty of activities for the children. Clean, spacious, large hot tub with a water wall, two pools, and right on the beach ! Condo was roomy with new furniture and a fully furnished kitchen. On Sea Pines next to the beach club with a free trolley stop right out front. Ride to Harbor Town or South Beach. Everything was perfect including our view of the ocean and the pools from out 4th floor balcony. We will be going back.

My husbands family has been coming here since the 80s. It’s our favorite places to go! We appreciate the new upgrades and amenities on site. I do think there is room for improvement in a few areas. One, routine maintenance needs to be stepped up. When we arrived it was extremely hot in our villa. We thought maybe it just needed time to cool down. We waited an hour and still the temperature was rising fast. With a newborn baby we grew concerned and called the front desk. Maintenance did arrive promptly. They discovered the air filter had not been changed in a VERY long time. It was completely clogged and covered in thick dust. So much so, when they tore it out it looked like a dog got to it. It didn’t want to come out because of how clogged it was. They thought that was the main issue. However, it still kept rising in temperature. We mentioned maybe it needing Freon, and it did! They went up to the roof and quickly filled it up with Freon. Then it cooled down nice in the villa without any further issues. I couldn’t help but think all week about how dirty that air filter was and the germs that could still be float around in the HVAC. Gross! Especially during these times and having a newborn. This is something maintenance should be checking monthly. We also noticed how badly the pool furniture needs replaced. It’s really fading and looking very worn. In addition, we love the updates across the board but the kitchen really needs updated. Also, on the patio, the wood framing/ledge is starting to separate from the wall of the patio, large gaps - it either needs replaced or caulked. One other thing, the hammock on the left needs to be tightened or replaced. No matter who sits in it, you butt touches the sand and it’s not very relaxing. As always everyone that works at this resort is 5 star and SO friendly and helpful! I can’t say enough about them!…

This was by far the worst Marriott experience ever and we are faithful Marriott folks. I understand this is a “Vacation Club” Marriott and they have “owners” but I am a guest too! So, we decided to have a long weekend stay - the day after thanksgiving through Sunday. I called before we left to ask if we could check in early and before I got even another word out, Juan said, “No! We never allow guests to check in early because we have owners and our owners….” He went on and on and didn’t let me speak. Cutting me off each time I tried to talk. I merely wanted to ask if we could check in early because it was the day after thanksgiving and I thought maybe the room might be vacant. He ended up never letting me speak or talk after I uttered the words “early checking.” When we arrived at 4 pm I asked the desk clerk Joseph if the room had been vacant and he said, “Yes! No one was in that room yesterday. You could have checked in early!” We lost an entire day because Juan doesn’t know how to LISTEN and wanted to talk over me. He didn’t know how to find a SOLUTION for me. He just wanted to be right. He won’t last. And we will never stay there again. Also, the “ocean front villa” is on the side of the building! I paid extra for a side half view obstructed by trees and the hotel walls! Finally, before even 8am you cannot sit on the balcony and enjoy the half view because they have a maintenance guy going around with a screeching blower to clean up leaves - for over an hour!!!! The location is great - in Sea Pines and on the beach. As with all Marriott Vacations Clubs, the unit is well equipped. But, we will never return. The worst feature is the seating. This is the most uncomfortable upholstery I have ever encountered. The problem has been mentioned on other posts but I never believed the magnitude. I developed a back ache for the first time in my life! Six days into a ten day stay, I abandoned the living room and began a slow recovery! Beware. The other problem was the shower head. I was a bit shocked to discover only one single use shampoo per bathroom. But, after attempting to wash my hair, I discovered the reason. Twenty minutes of shower time had not produced enough water pressure to fully rinse my hair. This is a water wasting -not saving- device. Likewise, light is insufficient for reading a book or applying make-up. Yes, I appreciate conserving resources. I was happy to reuse sheets and towels but I need to sit and see.…

Marriott's Monarch at Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island is a great place to stay by the beach and has much to offer. I really like the relaxing environment and atmosphere that they have created here. They have everything that you need to have a laid back vacation. The staff here is very attentive and available.

My family and I exchanged our week to HHI and had a great stay. The front desk staff were extremely pleasant and accommodating to our requests. We enjoyed Sea Pines as it is quiet and laid back. I would stay here again in the future.

A very nice vacation club property! Just be prepared to food shop as there is no food or beverages at the resort except for the small marketplace. The Beach Club next door offers lunch and dinner as well as takeout if needed. Beautiful rooms, beautiful beach and the Sea Pines trolley stop is right next door. There was a star and planet gazing event that we both really enjoyed! A different experience than our usual trip to Ocean Watch Myrtle Beach but we will definitely return!
