The building is a magnicent structure with a huge lobby containing numerous comfortable sitting rooms and a bar. There is a fireplace, a spacious outdoor patio, and a path to the outdoor pools and beach. You are warmly greeted upon arrival, and the friendly service by the well-trained staff continues throughout the stay. Dining options are plentiful, and the food... More

We decided to splurge and spend a night at this gorgeous hotel where most of the guests are golfers. There are several courses designed by well known pros: Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus to name but two. We had asked for an ocean-facing room, but were dismayed to learn that there was a function that evening on e lawn which... More

Excellent facility, dining, location, activities. Personnel very friendly and capable. We had booked a suite at a Marriott (for about the same price) because it was nearer our relatives' home. The Marriott was a loser and we moved after one night. The Sanctuary was everything the Marriott and other hotels in the area were not. Loved it. Definitely will return when... More

Of all the resorts that I have visited I have to say this is my upmost favorite. The hotel itself is exquisite. We had an oceanfront room with a balcony. The room was gorgeous, the views were stunning, and the service was amazing. We especially enjoyed the customer service poolside and on the beach. We're already planning our next trip... More

This resort has been on our bucket list, and although it is extremely expensive, it was worth every penny. We opted for an Ocean view room....that was a stretch, we could see the ocean but on the second floor was probably not worth the extra $500. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. Loved all the butterflies by the pools. Lobby... More

Didn't stay but did eat several times. Really enjoyed the pool side dinner with great buffet. Great surroundings, easy access to the beach, bicycle rentals, and all the golf courses you could want. Lots of close by shopping and off site restaurants.

If you like the "lowlands" around Charleston, you will LOVE The Sanctuary Hotel at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Without saying, the golf is world class, but what people hardly know about is their tennis school, and their incredible beach, and the nature trails, and the facilities at the spa. The hotel is beautifully appointed, and the staff members are delightful,... More

You can't teach attitude so the Sanctuary has done one masterful job of hiring well. We were with a group and knowing the group probably few tipped yet the staff, from the bell stand to the housekeepers were as gracious as if we were handing out $100 bills. The property is so well cared for. The food extraordinary. The Golf... More

Lovely place and lovely service. However, I noticed that the majority of service workers are Jamaicans. So I googled to find out that the Southern Poverty Law Center had won a class action suit on behalf of the workers. So please leave these friendly and hard working Jamaicans cash tips to ensure they are getting paid!!!

A must travel experience is to brunch at the "Sanctuary". The selections are uniquely selected to complement the season. Of course "Shrimp and Grits" are a low country staple and here they do not disappoint. Amazingly Delicious! The staff is first rate at this establishment. The Peach Crumble pie reminded me of my "Aunties" homemade pies. The ambiance is everything... More
