We rode motorcycles into Deadwood and reserved rooms at the Iron Horse Inn. To be able to talk with the owner himself so many times on the phone in preparation for the trip, made us feel like we were coming to his home. The staff were exceptionally helpful and Mike (the owner) checked on us each evening to make suggestions...

Thank you for your kind words, and for being our guest. It was a pleasure to host your party. It is rewarding in the hotel business to have the opportunity to meet and interact with guests from all over the world. It was especially nice to work with you in preparation of your stay, and I am happy that we...

Appalling check in process. No desk just go to cashier at casino desk (and wait........) eventually someone will appear to check you inn. Our room was a cupboard, on checking out we were told by an employee we had the worst room in the hotel. Many rooms were not occupied so that is not good business. Casino is dead!! Management...

Thank you for your review, and for being our guest. Our rooms do vary in size due to the historic nature of our property. Had we known, and if available, we would have tried to move you to a larger room. During the busy summer season most of our rooms are booked, causing an occasional short wait for check-in. Admittedly,...

Watch for the stone horse head over the door, it is original to the building. Casino portion is usually empty and you check in at the lobby next door, which is connected. Pretty slim pickings for parking and you need to search for a breakfast place at a reasonable price- the attached former gas bar is ok - but a...

Thank you for your nice review, and for being our guest. The horse head carved from the natural sandstone that overlooks the front door is truly a unique feature of our 1898 building. She has mystified visitors for over a century! The building was originally constructed as a feed store for horses, thus the sculpture was carved. Parking is always...

I love that this hotel is in a historic building and that they kept the authentic details when it was remodeled. I loved the high ceilings and the stain glass transoms with the room numbers. The price was definitely right and the location was excellent, as was the free coffee for visitors. I would say however that it's been several...

Thank you for your nice review, and for being our guest. Our building was constructed in 1898, complete with high ceilings and stained glass transoms. The restoration maintained many of those Victorian features, and I am glad that you enjoyed them. We are among the least expensive lodging alternatives in downtown Deadwood, as we want to make the historic hotel...

Stayed in room 301. This is an adorable corner room with windows on 2 sides! The hotel is walking distance to the entire town. Casino on first floor. There are 2 hotels in one building, one of the second floor and Iron Horse on the 3rd. Check in is at the cashier desk in the casino.

Thank you for your nice review, and for being our guest. The corner rooms...201 and 301, are two of my favorites as well. They display great views to the south and west. Like you, many of our guests like our central downtown location, an easy walk to most activities and attractions. We hope that you visit us again soon!

Love the Iron Horse Inn- clean, great corner room (301) great view of city, walking distance to town. Lots of gambling and close to several attractions. Friendly and accommodating staff. Must visit the midnight star! They let us in to look around while they were closed. Even tho they were closed they served up breakfast and it was great!

The Iron Horse Inn is a step back in history. We had a corner room which had a lot of character. High ceilings, real keys, wooden doors, 4 windows, wood trim, etc. It is located a block off the main street. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Deadwood is a fun place and the stay at the Iron Horse...

Thank you for your kind words, and for being our guest. I love the corner rooms myself, offering nice views to the north and west. This hotel has small rooms but each one is unique and feels like it's right out of the 1800's. All the amenities are there: private baths, cafe. But the best feature is the location - across from a museum, within walking distance of just about everything.

Thank you for your nice review, and for being our guest. Our rooms do vary in size, but as you noted, all are unique, clean and comfortable. Really nice place, in a great central location. We stayed in a beautiful room on the 2nd floor. It had a nice high ceiling and really soft carpet. Beds were very comfy! The room was clean, but was kind of small. The king bed was comfortable, however it was lower on one side than the other. The bathroom was tiny. The air conditioner worked VERY well which was nice.
