We stayed twice. First time cabin was nice, and roomy but satellite on TV didn't work, which is no big since we don't have this amenity at home, but owner knew there was problems with it but didn't fix it. Second time cabin was a disappointment. Beds were let's say " less than adequate" and cabin felt small...and once again...

We chose Janssen's Lodestone for our vacation for the reasonable price and because they were dog friendly. Though we knew they were close to the Black Hills attractions we were pleasantly surprised at how close. Hill City was also very close and a nice town to walk around. We enjoyed log cabin, #4, though it was small it was the...

3 adults and 2 kids (suite would accommodate another adult and child or 2) used this very clean and friendly and very conveniently located motel as home base to explore the Black Hills. Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Harney peak trailhead were within a 20 min drive. Wind Cave Nat'l Park was a little further but the drive there on...

We stayed for one night in a cabin. I will say it felt a bit dated in terms of furniture. The couch could use an upgrade and it felt a bit "old." The bathroom, however, was perfect. It felt remodeled and was nice in the morning. The service was awesome! We got in late and the owner waited up for...

There were absolutely no amenities at Lodestone Cabins. It was very, very 'barebones', but it was clean. There is no place to relax or sit and eat except outside which has a table and chairs. Only three hooks in the main room, no where to hang anything. Bathroom is very small. Toilet is between two walls and when sitting, your...

My father and I stayed here for four nights. It was his first trip to the Black Hills, my second. The central location and easy access was fantastic. We received some good local dining suggestions from the owner and tried different places each day. Our cabin was comfortable and very well maintained. Very pleased with the accomodations and the experience....

Stayed at Janssen's Lodestone Motel & Cabins. We had a cabin. It was interesting and not in a good way. Very cramped. The facility is older and that was very obvious. The cabin had two queen beds in the main room. In the bathroom and small kitchen area the floor was on unlevel that it was an effort to get...

I spent 4 nights at the Lodestone and I definitely plan on staying again in the future. My son very much enjoyed the owners grandsons that were visiting, and of course the dog "Watson". The staff was very friendly and informative. We felt like "part of the family" Which made my son and myself, feel very safe and comfortable. The...

Bottom line: If you are looking for delux accomendations and to be waited on this is not the place for you. We got a clean room with two beds, kitchen area, and a deck to sit out on with a swinging bench. They didn't come in the room daily to clean, which I prefer, but asked if we needed anything...

Our stay at Lodestone was outstanding. Our story was very similiar to one I just read. The kids loved their dog Watson and made quick friends with the grandkids that were staying there at the same time. We had a full kitchen when we stayed and that helped on the budget. The price and location were right and it made...
