My husband and I went on their trail ride. My husband had never been horse back riding and we thought this would be the best way for him to give it a try. We went on the early ride, 8:30 a.m. And the morning was perfect. The wranglers were very helpful, pleasant and made the ride fun. It lasted about...

We stayed in a camper cabin for a family event. I asked if we could put up a tent for the kids and was told absolutely not it would be disturbing to other campers. When we woke up there were three tents set up. They state they have a $6 breakfast with a list of available items, in reality it...

I recently stayed at High Country Guest Ranch for 5 nights with my daughter and grandson. We had a great time. The people were so nice and Myron the maintenance man was more than helpful when we had a few problems. Wonderful owners who introduced themselves to us and made us comfortable during our stay. My grandson loved the horses...

We took a small cabin with a kitchen but no stove/oven for four days and it was perfect. Plenty of room - close to the pool - the people were great. The family loved if. For the cost, I told me wife we should always book there, but she mentioned our other stays were longer and we might need more...

This place was selected by family members other than me for this year's extended family reunion. It's a significant distance from town (Hill City), about 5 miles on twisty roads. No restaurants or anything nearby. We stayed in a trailer, the "Wildwood". Price was superficially attractive, $99 a nite, but you get what you pay for. We stayed in a...

We rented a side-by-side ATV for the whole day yesterday. There were lots of good trails available near the business. They gave us helmets as well as a map and a Garmin to assist us because we were not familiar with the area. Good activity for the money!

I wasn't happy with the RV accommodations. We were placed where all the staff live that run the ranch and it really felt like we were encroaching on their space. Actually we had to asked to be moved one space over because one of the staff members was basically using the spot we had reserved with all of their stuff....

Plans changed one week after booking. Had booked in October for planned February trip. Was NOT told about the penalty for cancellation at the time of booking. Ranch keeps entire deposit ($200 in my case) if you cancel, unless they can rent it to someone else. Since we are booked mid-week in February we will almost certainly not have our...

I visited High Country Guest Ranch mid-September 2015 for five days and did not want to leave. I was there for a writing retreat and rented the Sundance cabin. The cabin was situated right next to a flowing creek and had a darling porch where in the late afternoons I enjoyed a glass of wine and wrote. It was the...

This place is a unique property. It is located about 5 miles out of Hill City. We visited in October, and it was very quiet indeed. The cabins are well made and very comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. They can talk about South Dakota for some time, and they have first hand stories of this part of...
