If you're looking for a small, nice, and simple place to stay, this is the place to be. It's less than a mile from the town where are the shops and restaurants are located. It's family owned and the family is really friendly. They have free wifi however it doesn't work very well in the rooms although the owner said...

I stayed here for one night while traveling through town on a work trip. The man at the front desk was very kind and checked me in efficiently. The room was outdated and small, but sufficient, especially for one or two travellers. Breakfast included English muffins, oranges, and homemade oatmeal (not the packet stuff) with fixings. The adjacent wetland provided...

WE LOVE The Lantern Inn. You know it may not be the fanciest place to stay, but there is so much more. The facilities are clean, it is a quiet peaceful place to stay and is very homey. The staff are incredible who will do whatever is required to make your stay a pleasant one. I recommend this place to...

The Lantern Inn is a great family owned motel in Hill City. It's conveniently located on the main road, across the street from the only grocery store in town, just a couple blocks to access the Mickelson Trail and a couple more blocks to downtown Hill City. This is older motel, well kept grounds with a small pool and a...

Only stayed one night for a quick mini vacation. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We had 2 small dogs with us for small additional fee. Rooms are clean and property is well kept. Simple breakfast is offered, as well as free wifi. Its also located close to local market across the road. Easy walking distance to businesses, restaurants, etc.

The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Drew, one of the owners, was friendly & upbeat. I even got an AARP discount. The morning breakfast buffet was a good start to the day. Nothing fancy, but it was hot & good.

We had a mini family trip (wife, dog, dad) for 4 nights in the Black Hills. After staying here 3 years ago, we knew what to expect and only wanted to stay at the Lantern Inn for our SD leg of the trip. The owner Drew is fantastic and makes sure that your stay is memorable and comfortable. From the...

My wife and I are travelling on motorcycles. We arrived at the motel but were a way too early (about 2 hours!) to formerly check in and our room wasn't quite ready but the owner let us leave our bags in the room and we were also able to use the refrigerator. Whilst waiting for the room to be made...
