My friend Sal and I (we're both in our 70s!) stayed at the Odd Duck Inn in September and loved it. We took an all-day tour with Mark which was absolutely worth the money. His sensitivity and knowledge of history, culture and current day realities gave a depth to our Pine Ridge visit that we could have never achieved on...

Go for the solitude and 360° wide open expanse; for the wild sage and mint growing outside your door. Go for the easy drive to the surrounding Badlands and get out to hike...Mainly go for experiencing the Oglala Sioux Pine Ridge reservation: tour with Mark and learn the culture, read his books, hear about Tilda's history and admire the care,...

I have wanted to see the Badlands for years and this was the year. A work colleague is a big fan of the old WPA guide books and gave me the one for SD - which led me to wonder if I could stay on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It turned out I could and I found my way to...

I’m going to do my best to keep this review at a readable length, because there are too many good things I have to say about the Odd Duck! First of all, be prepared for the isolation of the countryside. If you’re coming to Pine Ridge Reservation, you probably know it’s relatively rural, so make sure you organise transport –...

Came across this inn purely by chance and turned out to be the highlight of our trip to the States. Mark and Tilda could not have been more helpful; arriving late, hot and tired, with no food for the evening, Tilda was a life-saver, driving us into Kyle for shopping before the store closed. Mark was a wealth of information...

I just returned from my stay at the Odd Duck Inn and highly recommend it. As a high school U.S. History teacher I relished the chance to spend time with Mark and Tilda and learned a great deal about the history and culture of Pine Ridge and the Lakota. Mark helped me plan a number of fascinating day trips around...

Odd Duck owners Mark and Tilda were put on this earth to make it better. Set in the heart of the Pine Ridge reservation, the Odd Duck Inn is a launching pad for travels through a land rich in history, where the subtleties of its landscape and people come alive through Mark's storytelling. More than anything, what Mark conveys is...

Odd Duck Inn offers a comfortable stay just outside Kyle and owners Mark and Tilda really know how to entertain and educate. The setting is beautiful and the homes are clean, neat, and well cared for. Mark and Tilda can offer years of knowledge about Pine Ridge and the history of the Lakota as well as other Native American tribes....
