My wife and I visited the area for the first time. We recently moved to eastern South Dakota from Iowa, and are familiar with quiet outdoors close to wildlife. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury to live outside of town, but on vacations we prefer something other than the average 'run-of-the-mill' hotel in the middle of downtown. Counting 12-20 deer...

We stayed in the Dan Patch Cabin and it was perfect for the two of us. It has a full kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom plus a nice sized living area. If you want to get away from it all then this is the place for you. Excellent owners whose welcome left us feeling comfortable, knowing we could call on them...

What a quant place. We were greeted by smiles and open arms upon our arrival. The cabin was being cleaned-thank goodness. When we got in to the cabin it was decorated cozy and warm. Furnished with all the creature comforts. There's a fire pit and grill (which we loved). They even greeted us with the items needed to make s'mores....

We spent 10 days in the Dan Patch Cabin. Cute 2bd/1bth/living room/kitchen. Plenty of room for the two of us. Very quiet. Could not get cell service with our phones, but who cares! Had wifi with ipad, but had to hang over back of couch by front window to get it. No problem. Had deer & turkeys visit out our...

This was a nice, quiet place. The cabin we rented with another couple was clean, comfortable, warm, and quiet. There were dozens of wild deer on the property. We had a grill and fire pit and the owners provided s'mores makings. It is about 30 miles from Rapid City in a little town called Keystone. We were able to find...

The property is a cluster of cabins in a short steep-sided valley about two city blocks long that feels very remote and peaceful. Our family of five rented the Spokane cabin for two nights. The cabin was clean and tastefully decorated with a fully equipped kitchen. The 2BR, 2BA layout worked very well for us since one of the bedrooms...

The 3 of us stayed 2 nights in the Dan Patch cabin during our visit to the Black Hills this past August. The cabin was modern with all the amenities you would want. Tastefully decorated with local goods- comfortable beds- great view of the hills where you are nestled in. This is a small property which was just what we...

We were looking to try something different as compared to a usual hotel (bleh, same always). My wife found the BackRoads and booked us in the "Miners Cabin". Upon arrival to it; I couldn't believe it! How awesome! Everything we would need for cooking was in there (Silverware, cooking pans/utensils, plates, cups, wine glasses) which was huge for us not...

My extended family stumbled across this gem when looking for a place to stay during a family trip to the Black Hills. We couldn't have been more pleased with what we found: restful cabins, nestled into the hills, just a short drive from Keystone and Mt. Rushmore; tastefully decorated rooms; clean and well-kept accomodations; fire pits for chatting after dark,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our goal is simple: create a space and atmosphere that allows peace, rejuvenation and quality time with others. In order for this to be made tangible, our cabins are filled with the modern comforts of plush furniture and full kitchens amidst the rustic character of knotty pine walls and custom-made log headboards. Our grounds reflect the natural setting of the Black Hills, replete with tree-covered hills, beautiful rocks, stillness and an array of wildlife: birds, squirrels, bunnies and the occasional flock of turkeys and herd of deer. While at our property, you are our guests and will be treated as friends. We will do whatever we can to make your time one of enjoyment and relaxation. Make time to get away; it'll be worth it. ... more   less
