If you're looking for a well run ranch that caters to and takes pride in their animals and their ranch this is the place for you. If you're looking for a place to cater to you this is not the place for you. You also must be somewhat physically fit. You must walk on uneven terrain with some incline in... More

Thanks so much for your compliments. I do want to help folks understand a few things though. We are in the mountains as almost all Dude Ranches are and there are inclines in our area. But we have had guests into their 80's do the activities offered including the cool down walk. Three of these previous guests stand out: One... More

Short review: If you want a kiddie, nose-to-tail trail riding experience and do not mind obnoxious behavior and mediocre food, this dude ranch is for you! Otherwise, either save your money and go to a great dude ranch out west or stay local and find a simple trail close to home. Long review: Looking for a dude ranch experience close... More

Sometimes when people write extremely negative views on Trip Advisor, there is a real reason the posting guest doesn't mention. We have age and weight restrictions that are well posted and included in the confirmation letter that is sent to all incoming guests. If this letter is not read or ignored and you arrive at the ranch and fall into... More

We have been wanting to try a "dude ranch" stay for many years but have always balked at the high price for such an all-inclusive experience. I was thrilled when Groupon offered an off-season discount to visit French Broad Outpost Ranch in Del Rio, TN, and signed up our family of four for two nights over spring break. Driving into... We took an early summer vacation trip to the French Broad River Outpost Dude Ranch this week. The trip was a hit. The setting is off the beaten path and far enough away from distractions in life to unwind. Set just off the river and below a mountain, the trails were varied and well maintained. The staff and owners are... More

ASK if you don't know. There is no wifi and cell service is VERY sketchy. Be prepared to ask questions; not a lot of information is forthcoming. Ask for a schedule, find the staff to open the saloon, ask if there are hiking trails, and if you can feed the horses. The staff is good at teaching the basics and... More

This was a great experience for our 4 boys! We were very pleased with our time at the ranch. They took time to ensure safety & fun for all. Meals were good & enjoyable. Rooms were comfy & clean. We made great friends & had the perfect amount/number of people at the lodge. It wasn't overcrowded in the least. We... More

We have been to the ranch a few times and our family has always enjoyed it a lot. You are assigned your own horse during your stay and learn how to saddle it, ride, brush it etc. Activities include trail rides, a cattle drive, "penning" etc. The food staff and wranglers are fantastic as well. People of all ages can... More

We just returned home from the French Broad Outpost Ranch. This place is absolutely amazing. I took my grandson along with his mother, sister, and aunt to celebrate his 11th Birthday. The kids did not want to leave the ranch! The staff was excellent, the food was outstanding and the owners were impeccable! We all learned everything we needed to... More

We made wonderful Christmas memories at the ranch with our family and our new friends (the other guests!). Shawn and Joann (the owners) are super fun and giving people! All of the employees are amazing people! The food was delicious, the lodge and cabins are beautiful, and the trail rides were so fun (thanks Addyson..the wrangler who led our ride!)...even... More
