In a book I read long ago there is reference to a house which may or may not be Roundwood House. Recently, researching overnight lodging to break a journey somewhere roughly midway between my home in West Cork and a venue in Carrick on Shannon, Roundwood House manifested among my choices. I booked a room for one night. Whether or...

Wow. If you're up for staying in a low key, lived-in Georgian mansion that has been lived in by the same family for a few generations, and you're up for a dog, some geese, a couple of lovely kids, then this is the place for you. Also, as has been said before, the food is exceptional. It was the best...

Stayed 1 night in a room in the main house and enjoyed our delicious evening meal with other house guests at one large table. Excellent company. Lovely house. Probably the best meal I have ever eaten. The food alone will bring us back!

Had a fantastic stay on the weekend just past. Our second time eating here but first in residence. I just love the laid-back nature of the place, the warm family welcome and the uniqueness of the surrounds. History in every corner. Paddy and Hannah make you feel right at home from the minute you see the front door. Dinner was...

My husbands family and I recently visited Roundwood house for my mother in law's 80th birthday. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Hannah and shown to our beautiful room in the lodge. We then had tea and freshly made scones in the library, a restored barn with a fantastic mezzanine level and wall to wall books. Paddy even set...

Enjoyed a lovely time away with a friend. Great destination. Enjoyed the big old drawing room with the open fire. Enjoyed chats with guests and reading by the window. Had many walks through the woodland and visited the renowned wood shed. Food was excellent, all locally produced and prepared with care. Definitely be back here again.

It is easy to understand all the wonderful reviews for this place after spending a few days here. The somewhat daunting (though optional) prospect of sharing your table with a bunch of strangers may put some people off but actually it was a great and fun experience. The superb dinner served on both nights certainly helps matters. Paddy prepared highly...

We were met by Rococo the friendly Lab who showed us to the door where the very capable but easy going Paddy Flynn took over. Our room - The Blue Room was pretty special, however we spent most of the evening by the inviting turf fire in the drawing room. We were spoilt for choice with the selection of reading...

I dined here recently with work collegues for our office Christmas party. The concept of dining without knowing what was on the menu was new to me, and I was a bit nervous at first, but to my surprise I LOVED everything that was served to me. The food is thee most delicious I have ever tasted. I really enjoyed...
