It took far, far longer than anticipated heading south west on the day the schools broke up so I was very relieved to arrive at the Bearslake to a very warm welcome. In less than an hour I'd had a hot shower, walked my dog in the pretty grounds with its babbling stream and was sitting enjoying a chilled glass...

I needed to break a journey home from a trip to Cornwall so picked up the Bearslake Inn as it was approximately mid-way. The Inn is in a easily accessible position alongside the A386 on the edge of Dartmoor with plenty of parking in front. The room I had was at the back of the inn and was very spacious...

We passed this beautiful thatched inn on the drive up from Tavistock to Okehampton and really wanted to try it, so we bribed the children with lunch if they could cycle that far. Definitely worth it. Perfectly cooked, simple food. Not a crumb left by any of us. We sat in the lovely garden with the river running through it,...

We popped in today for something to eat. The lady behind the bar was very helpful and explained there was also a restaurant and beer garden. We opted to eat outside and ordered the drinks. She said she would raise a tab for us. We sat outside in the lovely sunshine. We ordered a mixture from the restaurant menu, bar...

I needed to break my journey to Cornwall and looked at TA for advice. It was a good choice. The Inn is a classic old inn with very thick walls. Service was good, the room was clean and of a good standard. I had an evening meal and a light breakfast, both were very good. I would stay again.

We ate in the restaurant at night with fantastic service. Meal extremely good but not perfect, but when mentioned very apologetic and and rectified with...

We stayed here from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th February, we booked the Saddle Room which was a large suite in the grounds behind the main building. The accommodation was spotless and there was lots of space. The Inn served bar food and A La Carte in the Restaurant. We had our evening meals in the restaurant on both nights...

Having never had a break with our westie we were very apprehensive as to what to expect. On arrival at the Bearslake we immediately felt at ease. The staff greeting was wonderful. Our room was perfect as was the food and drink on offer. If only the weather had been dry we would have taken advantage of the amazing walks...
