The first time we stayed here we had a double room with a cot for our baby daughter. This summer we are staying here with the same daughter, partner and her own 2 children in her own family room with a cot. Need I say more? Well I will just to say the staff are the most friendly of anywhere I have ever stayed and must mention Kevin on Saturday night - wasn’t sure what to expect but very well done as he managed to include all 3 generations with his entertainment!

It’s our third holiday with our grandchildren at the Langstone , The staff are welcoming and friendly and the cleanliness of the hotel is excellent, The food is good aswell just afew little things that can be improved 1/ The children’s entertainment was mainly workshops same as last year and some of it could have been better and more interesting with many children. Staying at the hotel 2/ The buffet was help yourself and excellent food however everyone was touching the same serving spoons to dish up wouldn’t it be better the chef dish up on people’s plates as we are coming out of covid times 3/ The climbing frame in the grounds which my grandchildren loved had loose wood on it and needed matience on it . 4/ the swimming pool looks tacky around the edges , with the hotel closed some of the year these jobs could have been done

Unable to check in until 1600 hrs which is late enough but then the room still was not ready at that time. No help from staff to stow luggage so left in car and went out walking. Whlst the downstairs was well decorated the room was appalling. Very dated and scruffy. Did not feel particularly clean. Door to room was right by narrow stairs so seemed like a herd of elephants was passing by every few minutes. The hotel had a really bad vibe about it (The Shining springs to mind). Had to pay to park car at the hotel even though the car park belonged to the hotel. Breakfast was diabolical. Covid restrictions meant that you were requested to attend a buffet bar to be served by staff that had no idea what they were doing. A woman in particular poured us a couple of glasses of juice only to stick her fingers in the top of the glasses to pass them to us or rather throw them at us. The cooked breakfast was inedible. When checking out, the member of staff on reception saw us approaching so got up, disappeared to the back office for 10 minutes. Never again and costly!

Response from Mark Rogers, Owner at Langstone Cliff Hotel
Responded yesterday
Hello, Thank you very much for your comments, whilst we wish we could have done more to allow you to enjoy your stay with us we would like to address some the points you have raised. In line with many of our Industry colleagues, we have published on our website and written to each of our prospective guests in advance of their stay explaining that due to the additional cleaning which we have in place and more recently problems with staffing levels we cannot guarantee rooms will be available before 4.00pm. we understand you arrived around midday and checked in at 4.04pm. We would of course stow your luggage for you on request. The tariff you chose has reduced fee parking included, had you booked direct with the hotel Free parking would have been included as would have breakfast, a complimentary newspaper, and if possible a complimentary room upgrade. We are sorry you had a poor experience at breakfast, but it is very difficult to cope with this several weeks after the event and as restrictions have eased we have managed to return our breakfast offering to closer to that which we offered pre-Covid. We are sorry we did not match up to your expectations on this occasion but do hope you will give us another try as restrictions are lifted and hopefully you will experience the hotel as it is enjoyed by many of our regular guests. Kind Regards Mark Rogers Director
