This has to be one of the best places we have stayed. We travel all over the southwest walking and stopped here for one night. It is a shame we could not stay longer and we will definitely be back. From the lovely welcome from Tim and his two gorgeous labs, to the lovely historic house, full of interesting items and lovely music room; and the helpful lift into Dawlish for an evening meal. Rooms were large and wonderfully decorated and it was almost a shame to head out for dinner - relaxing with a cup of tea looking out over the garden from a bedroom, simple pleasures after a hard days walking. Nothing was too much trouble for Tim and looking forward to a return visit already. A picture of the area to show how lovely it is, and Coombe Brook just visible lower left

What wonderful hosts and what a lovely house in a gorgeous setting. What makes this property special is the music room and the fact that Vivian is an accomplished flautist clearly inspired by underground music masters like Jimmy Hastings and the more esoteric music which emerged from the famous Canterbury scene of the 60s and 70s. The sound first forged by the Wilde Flowers and later developed by the Soft Machine, Caravan and Gong has found a 21st century home in this pastoral Prog idyll of a retreat. Imagine a cross between mid-period Traffic and Pentangle, seasoned with impressionistic classicism. That’s Coombe Brook! The best place to get it together in the country and write your triple box set.

Viv and Tim are wonderful hosts who couldn't have made me and my little boy more welcome. Coombe Brook is just PERFECT, George says it's paradise! Thank you for having us, thank you for a perfect holiday and all the lifts in the car. Thank you for helping to create wonderful childhood memories for my son. We will be back, with the squad of my other children! Our room and bathroom were stunningly beautiful, breakfast was delicious with homemade fruit compote, bread and preserves, mouth watering cooked breakfast and homemade porridge and pancakes. The dogs are incredibly friendly and really made the holiday for George, he adored playing in the garden with them. PERFECTION!

This is a spacious house which combines layers of history, a lovely garden and a great natural setting. Viv and Tim, our hosts, did everything for us to have a lovely, comfortable stay. Tim's breakfast was locally-sourced and proved to be the best start on a rainy day!

Recently stayed for one night and what can i say. Tim and Viv are excellent hosts with a beautiful home set at the back of the town in the beautiful woodlands/countryside. Very peaceful stay with a delicious breakfast. Been visiting Dawlish for 20+ years and this has been one of the most relaxing stays. Anyone looking to stay in Dawlish i would highly recommend trying Coombe brook first. Jon & Brian.
