After a long walk you look forward to a friendly welcome and a comfortable night. We had all these during our recent stay. We were welcomed with a pot of tea in the lounge and the owner was very knowledgeable about local walks. It is a popular venue for those walking the SW coastal path. After a good night's sleep,...

Our second stay at Mellstock House and Penny and John were as friendly and accommodating as always. Had a top floor room, which was clean with a large comfortable bed. Plenty on offer for breakfast in the morning - but just had marmalade on toast. Recommended.

John and penny couldn't have been more helpful to us as we were walking SWCP. Lovely clean room, with good facilities. Pot of tea was really welcome after our walks. John was happy to drive , and collect us from different locations, which really helped us as we could stay put for a few days. Couldn't have looked after us...

Having just completed 6 weeks walking the coast path staying in numerous hotels and BandBs we have to award Mellstock House as the best place that we stayed in. Everything , from the minute we arrived until the moment we left was brilliant and we can't praise Penny and John enough. Spotless, great food, extremely comfortable and great conversations ....

Greeted by John on arrival who offered a cup of tea and good conversation to tired walkers and was a very pleasant and helpful host. Mellstock seems a little tired decor wise and needs a sprucing and bit of general TLC, not unlike the town of Combe Martin. However room was spacious and offered a secondary lounge with sofa which...

Thank you for your comments. Sorry that the decor wasn't to your standard. Its an Edwardian house and we try to keep the decoration in line with the house. The whole house is decorated every winter although at the time of your stay the outside had yet to be done, we wait for the better weather. All our breakfast ingredients...

My reservation was made at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances with a reservation at a different establishment in Combe Martin - in fact, it was the other establishment who actually made this booking for me. I was delighted with the warmth of the reception received, the comfort of the accomodation and the quality of the food which was especially...

I stayed here for 2 nights during my weeklong hike of the Southwest Coast Path. Owners John and Penny made me feel right at home. Upon arrival Penny fixed me a pot of tea and some sweets, and I also received this special favor on Day 2 following another day of hiking. I stayed in Room 1, a large room...

Autumn break, sun shining and a great B & B. Made very welcome on arrival by John with tea and homemade cakes. Cold cider on the balcony soon afterwards. Slept like a log and up to a great breakfast. Thanks to John and Penny.
