Upon arrival at the hotel we had to wait in the entrance for a few minutes until we were approached by a member of staff. Check-in took quite a bit longer than you would expect, however the staff were very friendly and seemed genuine. The room was a good size and nice enough. Both the room and the bathroom were immaculately clean. Unfortunately the heating in the room was so hot that it was impossible to sleep and the controls did not seem to do anything to regulate the temperature. To make it worse the WiFi was useless so using a mobile phone to kill some time while you couldn't sleep was impossible. I called reception sometime during the night to see if somebody could assist with the temperature in the room as it was unbearable even with the window fully open but there was no response (I would have expected a night porter to be on duty at least on a Saturday night). The next day my husband and I made our way down to breakfast just after 0930am. We ordered from the a la carte menu and although mine was very nice indeed my husband's poached egg turned up hard boiled. Since he was not enjoying it he made his way to the breakfast buffet to get some fruit instead and came back with a bowl of cereal as all the fruit and pastries had been taken and not replenished. When we told the waiter about the egg he immediately took it back and replaced it with a fresh plate quite promptly. I intended to voice my concerns later on that morning when I was checking us out of the room and was waiting for an opportunity to be asked how our stay was, however that never happened. Although the receptionist was friendly I think it is quite a basic thing to ask your guest how their stay was. I'm not a fan of leaving negative reviews however since I was not given the opportunity to say anything I felt this was the only choice. Overall the staff were friendly and genuinely nice, the hotel was clean but lacking in the basic comforts of good food, temperature in the room and WiFi.…
Fantastic breakfast and ambience. Good quality ingredients well prepared. Great service. A smart, modern hotel that looks and feels good and of its place - English Devon. Just on the far outskirts of Tiverton on the road up the Exe valley to Exmoor.
15 had dinner there the food was tops if you like steak then order it we had rib ,eye all the food was lovely and our waitress called phoebe was fantastic she was so helpfull she could not do enough to help as all ,,, 10 out of 10 from mr lee golesworthy
Have eaten at the Hartnoll several times, food is always excellent, albeit the starters are in the little short side. Three scallops on a large plate looked lost. Sat in conservatory for meal on a warm day was nice. Moved to the well kept garden fir coffee. Happy to recommend and use again being local. Only other slight gripe was the bolshy attitude of who looked like the head waiter. Zero personality or customer skills!
Stayed for one night on our way to Cornwall. Staff were really friendly & attentive. Enjoyed drinks in the garden before dinner. Food was excellent - delicious & beautifully presented. Our dog friendly room was very comfortable apart from being too close to the road. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Would definitely visit again. Really enjoyed our stay.
