What a little gem of a place this is, the owners Gill and Graeme Yeo are excellent hosts the meals are plentiful and thats an understatement the room I had was clean and tidy with plenty of clean towels and loads of free tea and coffee and all for £40 a night.Brilliant thank you both.

Have been a few times recently, lovely welcoming staff. Nice warm fire. There's a great new extensive menu, little bit old fashioned but I think it's nicer than pub chain fayre. Portion sizes are always plentiful, food always tasty, hot and quick to the table. Only negative is I think the roast pots and some veg are cooked from frozen. Puddings...

Once again Graham and Jill excelled. Friday 2nd December 2017 was a busy evening (the start of the Christmas Party season) we arrived at 6.30 to avoid any rush. Our food was first class and the service excellent as well as being good value. We always love the relaxed atmosphere of this typically Devonshire establishment. Sat in front of the...

Good facility. Nice pub with good pub food. Governor worked hard to serve us as he was short of staff and had a busy restaurant on the day of our visit. We stayed in the car park in our motorhome. The carpark was flat and recently nicely resurfaced.. kids in the neighbouring garden were a little noisy on the day...

Me and my husband booked a night at Poachers Pocket. We were making a south of the country tour and we were in and out of hotels and inns for a good week. We stayed in room 10 in the loft. Very outdated furniture, uneven floor so much that the one bed was leaning on its side. Small old sink...

We went for an evening meal on a Saturday..There was a good variety on the menuThe meal was tasty and a good size portion. The décor was a little tired but the tables were not close together so us oldies could hear the conversation on our table!

We were told that this used to be a character restaurant as all the dining tables were old sewing machines. Sadly they are now all gone except for one. Four of us ate here last week on a Saturday evening. Beware the home made pies, they sound good, but when served it seemed to have been microwaved and was very...

Stayed here as we were going to attend a friend's birthday party and thought we'd make it into a short break. The welcome was good, the room clean and comfortable and the food (evening meal, breakfasts and party food) was very good. Well located, close to, (but not so close that you would know it was there) to Junction 27...

Monday arrival, I had booked 4 nights via laterooms. Hotel is easy to find (if you ignore the post code, my sat nav took me to the village of Burlescombe). I was expected on arrival and was given a very friendly greeting. I'm not one for breakfast, but an 8am start isn't early enough for me, I told the owner...
