We stayed at The Rising Sun for one night and I'm not sure I would have wanted to stay longer - it's definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for'. Having not visited this area of Devon before, we as a group of 10 adults were keen to make a reservation for dinner on one of our 3 nights away. The Rising Sun was perfect for us, we were a large group (plus 2 children) that the staff/owners made feel very welcome. The food was delicious and I wish I...

Nice friendly place to stay in the middle of deepest darkest Devon, the room was basic but well laid out and very roomy for a single room! the staff seemed friendly and helpful and check in was very quick and simple. However the best part was the breakfast!

Great couple of nights with great hosts, good food and great knowledge of the fishing available on the river. All very relaxed, the perfect spot to get away for a few days, eat well and explore the area.

Had three nights in February and enjoyed our stay Very dog friendly. Evening meals were great too!. Easy short walks with dog from the pub but needed to travel to Torrington to find longer safer walk on the Tarka trail. Would recommend !! Jules and Karla were lovely as were the rest of the staff Thanks for a great stay

Thanks Jules and Carla for making us feel so welcome and being so flexible keeping the kitchen open as we were late. A great place to stay and a superb atmosphere, much improved compared to the previous owners. Ben and Hazel

we stayed 4 nights over Christmas and found this place a great dog friendly hotel. we were looked after incredibly, the hosts of the Rising Sun could not do enough for us. As I am a ceoliac they couldn't do enough for me and went out of their way tremendously to ensure that I had enough and the right things...
