Stopped by for lunch as previously had a good roast here around a year ago. Friendly welcome and well looked after interior. Bar offered a reasonable but predictable drinks selection however my dad had a fantastic local cider. To be fair I should have ordered the safe option of their burger. Instead I opted for smoked haddock fish cake on...

Charming hotel in a very quaint village close to Chesil Beach. Stayed here for one night in a room with a four-poster bed. The mattress on the bed needs changing - I could feel the springs sticking through which was uncomfortable when you move or turn over. The shower head was also full of limescale. OK for a night or...

We popped in for lunch with muddy boots and wet dogs. The sign outside welcomes both. The welcome was genuine and warm. We picked a spot where the dogs could lie under the table and ordered the 100% Angus beef burger, with onion jam. What a wise choice as it was simply superb. A quick visit to the loos revealed...

Away with friends for a weekend we researched the pubs in Abbotsbury the Ilchester arms was top of the 2 pubs. We'd stopped for a drink on Friday afternoon and discovered a very unique and quirky pub. We booked a table for 6 on line as we had no signal where we were staying. I'm always cautious about pub roast...

We took up the winter 3 night stay that the Ilchester had advertised via Facbook, we didi this on a whim as the price was so good. The saying goes that you get what you pay for - well I have to disagree, the value of the deal was excellent and was far better than I had anticipated. Yes the...

Firstly we weren't put in the room we booked which was annoying. We didn't bother to bring it up as the keys were already gone and someone else had obviously been given the room instead. It was a shame as I really wanted a bath and our room didn't have one, I think the other did. The bed was really...

We called in for lunch after a long walk. The sign outside welcomed children, dogs and muddy boots. The latter applied to us. The conservatory area was packed, so we sat inside, unfortunately directly beneath a speaker playing 'neutral' music. No staff in sight, we rang the bell and a woman appeared to take our order. She didn't smile once,...

We had a great stay at the Ilchester Arms Hotel, that's my wife and her twin sister. We took advantage of a special offer, but saying that after staying here we will be back. The whole stay was just fantastic our family room was very good standard which we had as we took our dog with us. The breakfast (full...

Our room was small, but perfectly adequate for short stay, with free tea, coffee and water. Very clean and tidy, and despite being very cold outside, room was comfortably warm. Good food and local beer/cider.

We arrived at the weekend on a cold night for an overnight stay at the hotel. We were shown to Honeysuckle. One of the first things we thought was how cold the room was despite the radiator being on fully. We couldn't get warm. I noticed a stain in the middle of the carpet which looked unpleasant. The en-suite shower...
