Had a lovely weekend here where we were made very welcome by Tracey. Lovely homely feel and the room was very quaint clean and comfortable. It was very quiet which was nice, even when people were in the bar. The food was excellent good choice of evening meals. Breakfast was delicious with full English, and cereals, toast and fresh fruit...

Visited recently for an evening meal with my girlfriend, I did book in advance but on this occasion the pub was fairly quiet. The food was extremely good and had a 'local' feel to the menu which is good to see. I had the shoulder of lamb and it was fantastic

A large group of family and friends enjoyed a fabulous evening in this lovely pub for a birthday celebration and we were fortunate enough to be able to stay in the Marquis. The room was perfect and, as we might have expected from Tracey and Steve whom we knew from the time at The Kingswell in Harwell, the welcome,. the...

We were looking for a peaceful, relaxing weekend break and the Marquis of Lorne gave us just that. The room was well appointed and comfortable looking out across fields. Footpaths allowed us to explore the beautiful countryside. The food was excellent with a great choice. Our first evening was on St Patrick's Day and Tracey and her staff put on...

Wow this place is great, such a friendly welcome, my room was lovely and big. Fresh home made cookies on the tea tray nom nom. I rarely have tea in my room as I don't like UTH milk but this wasn't a problem here there was a little fridge on the landing with fresh milk for guests. But by far...

Whilst enjoying a short break in a rented cottage nearby we came across this beautiful venue whilst out walking one Sunday morning. It appealed to us very quickly as where we would like to eat that evening and upon initially finding the door locked we were then surprised to very quickly welcomed in and given coffee even though they were...

We visited The Marquis of Lorne for a birthday luncheon. While the dinner prices are quite expensive lunch was very good value for top notch cuisine ( probably averaged £14 for a main as opposed to £21 for a dinner main). Lovely pub, lovely people, good selection of on taps, and a truly lovely place to eat.

Having visited the marquis frequently it is only fair to share just how delicious their Sunday roast dinner is. Something special to be able to go somewhere and know what your eating is locally fresh produce and this shows exceptionally in the cooking! Very reasonably priced and service is always brilliant. Great selection on the menu and would highly recommend...

I have been using the Marquis for three years now, and it has always been good. However this year the room upgrades mean that the rooms are to the same standard as the food. Steve and Tracey are great hosts, and have put up with my late arrivals and early breakfasts. The food is to a very high standard, both...
